Insurance for a Canadian rider buying a motorcycle in Europe

I'm searching for a company that will insure my motorcycle if I buy a bike in the UK to ride across Europe. I'll be riding with a Canadian license and an IDP - both valid over there. Buying and registering the bike won't be a problem - I've already looked this up - I just need insurance. Apparently there are a couple of German companies at least that will do this, but I haven't had much luck getting replies from them. Does anyone have any leads?
 
It would be much easier if you you have any relatives there. Just register the bike on their name and have them insure the bike and use it as a guest. That's what I am doing in another Euro country, because I simply cannot buy insurance locally without a resident address ...
 
How long will you be going for?

I've rented a GS1200 a couple of times from Superbike Rental in the UK. That was only for a 4 week period, however insurance was included.
