Insurance for 25+ new rider, Non Sportbike

So, I have been browsing around here for a while, and it seems as though most of the insurance questions are centered on Sportbikes. Makes sense.
But, What about cruisers, more specifically Harleys?

Right now, I don't even have my M1 - I am looking to get it in the fall and do the safety course, and then start riding at the beginning of next season. So, the following will all be hypothetical.

25+
M2
Licensed (G1, G2, G) for more than 5 years
No crashes, 1 ticket for 5 or 10 over about 3 or 4 years ago.
Downtown Toronto

Bike
Harley Street Bob. 1584cc.

I checked out this thread with the charts...

http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforum/showthread.php?111466-READ-BEFORE-POSTING-Which-Insurance-Company-will-give-me-the-best-rate

I fall under the C9 category in that chart.

Anybody know what I can expect to pay? I did the TD insurance online calculator and got about $7000 per year...??

I will physically call the insurance companies soon to get some actual quotes, but I was wondering if anyone could give me a ballpark figure.

Thanks in advance

I had good prices given to me by Cornerstone insurance a couple years ago by mentioning I was a gtam member. Worth a free phone call right?

csib.org will have all their info.

I've heard AllState is good for cruisers

best way to find out is to call, call, call. take half a day off work if you have to. too many variables for anyone to be able to guess. good luck.

I assume they will be able to give me a quote, even though I don't have my M1 yet? They won't ask for your license number like they do when you get a quote for a car?

Thanks

Probably still in the 2000-3000 range if cruisers are similar to sport-touring in respect to insurance. You might still get dinged pretty hard though, since you want something with such a big displacement.

It's the fact that you'll be a first year rider that kills.

You can also check with riders plus. They're the only ones that offered me a quote for under 3000. I pay 2200 for a 600cc sport tourer and I just got my M2 in May.

Sure don't be trusting in online quoting tricks. Call! Call! Call!

I have a 2004 Fatboy that I bought last year (1450cc). I'm 46, have had my G for 30 years but have only been riding for 5. No accidents or tickets. TD Meloche is my broker and I only pay $275/yr. I was shocked by the low rate and the TD rep on the phone was at a loss to explain why it was so low (I paid twice as much in 2011 to insure a Sportster). Incidentally, the purchase price of the bike was $11,500.
In short, call. You never know.
