Insurance companies screw me

Alright so let me start off by saying that I am 21 years old and a new rider. Got my m1 earlier in the year and just completed the safety course for m2. I have my full G and have never had an accident or ticket.

Going by one of the stickys I called around in the fall last year to see what I would be looking at for insurance come this summer. I was told that for a standard bike it would be around 2500 for the year. Although I felt it to be pricey, I accepted it knowing that eventually it would decrease.

So I make the decision to buy a bike. Suzuki gs500f. I figured now that I have my m2 it would probably be a good time to get some insurance. Just got off the phone with Jevco, TD, and Rider's plus to name a few. To my delight, the cheapest rate for the year would be $4200 and that isn't even full coverage. Just liability.

I'm sure most of you can probably say things like, you shouldn't have bought a bike so soon or whatever but the cost and timing was right. Plus I was excited!

Does anyone have any ideas as to what companies I could try instead or am I just screwed?

how long have you have your g ? if you got your g1 at 16 im pretty sure you can go with statefarm try them out

Based on my experience with the Vulcan you could try StateFarm. I got rejected without a quote from Statefarm for it being a cruiser. I have my M1 with a perfect G record of over 10 years (I actually hold a D with perfect CVOR). They bounced me to Dalton-Timmis who then bounced me to TD before I could hear an actual dollar figure. My bike is a 2005 500cc cruiser. Statefarm admitted that their cruiser rates suck and they would do better if it was a sport or sport-touring bike.

ask your parents if you can add your bike to their cars/house insurance policy that should give you some discount.
i know statefarm offers a discount for adding a car under the same policy.

my friends insurance went from 3900 to 2000 after putting it under his dads statefarm policy. and my friend is listed as the primary and only rider on that policy.

I got my g1 in March of 2008 so I would've been 17 and I got my G earlier this year. The cars in my house are under allstate and they refuse to cover unless your 25 or have been riding for 2 years. Good idea with statefarm though I'll give them a call in the morning.

Maybe I'll tell allstate that I'm considering switching the cars over to statefarm and see what they say but I doubt it will do much good.

SF you will need your Full G for 5 years (7 Years since G1) to get a decent rate (Maybe even to qualify with them) and there best deals are when you are over 25 as well.
Most of the other places will drop alot once you have had your license for a full year (M2 really means nothing to them)
