Insurance agents to call for a 2006 Honda CBR 600 RR

Have been looking for agents and reps from different insurance companies that can give me a good deal.

Any advice on specific agents to call would be helpful.

Here is some basic info about myself.

  • Living in Mississauga
  • Buying a bike next summer so I am doing my research now.
  • Turning 25 in December
  • Have had my full G license since I was 18
  • Getting my M2 in two weeks
  • Looking at a 2003, 04 or 05 Suzuki GSX-R 600

You have only 2 real choices.. if you've had a G class license for 5 years then you can try State Farm, otherwise it's TD... and I wouldn't expect either quote to be pretty

The only thing you have going for yourself is the fact that you'll be over 25

Anyone know if M vs M2 makes any real difference? I've had my M for a while i'm just curious.

hey tricky, how ugly of a quote am I looking at? $2000-3000 a year on top of my car insurance? If so that is pretty ugly. $1500 would be amazing if possbile.

Im calling SF reps today after work to see what they can do. Going to give Carolyn Maugeri a call and Renata Midura a call to see what they can do for me.

Thanks for the quick reply guys

Cheers

what about John Duffy ?

Just did an online quote on the John Duffy website.

Damn $3655/year. :violent2:

SF would be my best guess.
You have the main requirements for SF (Over 25 and have had G 5 years)

My quotes from them were $1,440/year w/o my car and $860/year with my car. (I also live in Kitchener)

Edit: I have a 600cc SS as well

I believe Jevco got out of the supersport business, which is why you only have SF and TD.

For TD, I wouldn't rule out the possibility of a 5-figure quote (I got a quote out of curiosity a while back for a GSXR 600, $12000 with one year riding experience w/ clean record, but I'm under 25)... but it will probably be around 4-5000? So many factors, though, so its impossible to say. Just call up agents and see whats what.

I'm not trying to preachy when I say reconsider the bike choice... what about a 500 (GS, or Ninja 500) or a 650 (SV, Ninja)? You could get a sub-3 grand quote for those

With the ninja 650 IMO probably being the best all around road bike money can buy (for solo riding, might be a bit anemic for any real two up)

I got my M recently - called my StateFarm agent. Makes NO difference. According tho him, State Farm's policies are strictly based on size of engine only

For what it's worth, I have an 03 gsxr 600 - Similar in everything you listed, also live in mississauga. Paying 1500 with SF. Full coverage.

+1

When I walked in I got my quote for a 600cc SS with an M1 and a hypothetical quote on a on a 600cc Katana with my full M and there was 0 difference in price.

Okay guys, got some quotes:

SF: $93.77/month or $1125.23/year - Basic Coverage
Primmum or TD: $6500/year -Basic Coverage

Will be calling RBC today.

Thanks guys, I will call more and more places and post the quotes up here for others to get an idea of what to look for.

Cheers

thats an awesome quote from SF. Dont think you're going to find better then that!

You are right man,

I called RBC and they quoted me a ridiculous figure over $10k. But they said it would be significantly lower if I went through group insurance.

Will be trying other places shortly, but as FriendlFoe says, SF's quote is very hard to beat.

Ill keep trying for others on here.

Hi guys thought i would update my status on treasure hunting for cheap insurance.

To summarize:

TD: Over $6500/year
Royal Bank: Over $6K/year
State Farm: $1300/year
Duffy: Wouldnt provide me a quote.

Looks like it will be SF for now until i have gained more riding experience.

Bike hunting has begun.

Cheers

If that's only a preliminary quote, don't be surprised if its a bit higher when you actually sign on for insurance. FYI.

IIRC, there was a guy who was quoted on a Ducati Monster - bought it - then called to insure it and they gave him a much higher rate. Jevco, i think.

I dont doubt it will be higher but i dont think it will get that much higher. To be safe I had every agent email me the quote so I have some sort of documentation to work with when I do infact sign up for one.

Thanks for the advise nonetheless.

Your quote won't be 'official' until it's through the system and even then it can be reviewed and changed at their request.
only surefire way to have the real number is when they put the VIN in the quote.

I doubt you'll get a better rate than what StateFarm is offering you on an SS, unless you move way out of populated areas or magically age 10 years overnight, have a family and buy all your insurance through them.

Happy shopping!
