I am looking at a 2012 Honda CBR 250. I am getting my M1 and then my M2 after doing the safety course. I am going to insure after I finish the course and get my M2.

I have no traffic violations, claims or anything. Got my G1 4 years ago and hold my G right now.

I am a 20 year old male, who lives in Dundas(near Hamilton).

I am looking to aim 500,000-1m liability, no collision and around 1000 deductible.

So my question is, do you guys think that 2000$ is around what I could get insured for? or am I just dreaming.... Because I did some online quotes with TD and other major insurance companies and I am seeing 3500-4000/year...

I know I need to call some brokers also, any recommandations for my situation for the best rates?

Thanks.

John.

If you sit on your M2 for a year, TD will very likely give you a quote of less than 2000. As it is now, it will be hard to find a quote around there without having car/house combined insurance. Give it a shot nonetheless, especially if you're a university student. TD Meloche Mennox, Statefarm (might need license for 5+ years), Jevco are all good options to consider afaik.

Thanks for the fast responses. I just read a lot online of some people in my similar situation who had like 1,900$ quotes, but the post where a couple years old.

Ontario sucks..... =/

I am only looking for liability, I just thought with 1000 deductable it decreased my rate a bit. I don't want full coverage.

I pay less than 2000, but that's for liability only.
FOr full coverage i'd be paying over 3k.

What insurer? Im getting full coverage for ~$2k with TD (still insane for a 400cc dualsport)

I just got my full M recently so I hope my rate will go down a bit

Don't lose hope.

I'm 21, 2012 ninja 250 (new), M1 still, I'm paying 1,500 with TD MM until Feb. They pro-rate your insurance so make sure you ASK about it when you call in for a quote!
