Insane Toronto Weather - Summer SS Tires

We have the worst weather when it comes to consistency, one day it's so hot your AC can't keep up the next you can swear you're back in January. Or during the day it's in the 20s and during the nights it's below 9.

How do you folks sporting summer tires on your sportbikes compensate for such unpredictable weather? I doubt you're slapping summer tires on by day and all seasons by night.

Certainly seems our weather is now basically one extreme or the other. Hot, humid 30oC temps followed by days of below normal temps and a chance of overnight and morning frost.

Yesterday I had to ride around with my leather jacket's zipper half unzipped because I was cooking like a baked potato in it.
Today I rode to work and had to swap it for the car at lunch; too cold to ride in my summer gear.

wtf?

lol.. funniest post I have read here.. You're being serious?

Ok - never heard of "summer" tires and "all seasons" for motorcycles. Ive ridden Sport tires in the rain, as have most of the riders here who have been riding for a long time - they work perfectly well. You can get "sport touring" tires too, and they work better. Just like any tires, they will work as well as they can in different conditions.
Its not like we use "slicks" on the streets or anything like that!

It's normal May weather.

Relax, pinky. Consider me a newb to bikes. Not all of spat out of the gina with on a sportbike.

lol. That I figured.
You will find that a lot of gear is designed to be multible season, that way you can rock it in the warmer and cooler months. You may need to supplement the cooling or heating aspect with specialist gear. Ie. heated vest, or mesh jackets etc. A lot of people own multiple sets of gear for this reason that they collect over time. Good gear is worth the $$.. riding for 1.5 hrs in a torrential thunderstorm on the 403/401 is brutal if you're soaked to the skin but with decent gear its doable .

Last yr we had a normal summer? Do we have normal winters? Lol bro our weather is far from normal
Dude this is Canada. It's May, that's how it always is

Some do ;), been riding for 10yrs now and have never owned a set of "street" tires.....ran race DOT's for years and now just groove my used slicks. You just have to adjust your riding style according to the weather

I have issues picking an oil weight. I keep switching between 0W40 < 10c and 5W40 > 10c. I have over 5 oil changes in 200km.

*shudders* I could never run an 0 weight inside anything...just weirds me out.

As far as this thread goes...smdh. I have Angel STs on my Daytona. They only feel off at around 3*C and below, and even then only if I go too fast for conditions. When I had Super Corsas they never felt slick

When did motorcycles come with specific tires for the time of year? You either run touring tires, sport tires, knobbies or slicks. Brb, putting on my motorcycle specific snow tires because I like to make things up!

This is weird weather for a lot of NEW Canadians lol... Welcome to Canada, we have 4 seasons here.

I just leave my snow tires on until July 1.

If you're a careful gardener, you don't set out your more delicate annuals and vegetables until May 24. Why? Risk of frost. That advice goes back at least 100 years in Toronto. Totally normal. Also, we have two seasons, not four: Winter and Construction.

So I suppose the answer is, to be aware of the conditions and ride accordingly.

Grip depends on temp and it's wise to be cautious when tires are cool.
