In the year 2050, I want to see motorcycling look like this:

Seeing as how we're at the beginning of a new quarter century, what are your wishes and thoughts for two-wheeled powered travel in another 25 years?

Will there be flying motorcycles?

Here are some fanciful things I'd like to see in motorcycling:

- Lightweight, almost invisible protective garments. We're almost getting there with D30 armor getting thinner and more lightweight. Like a personal forcefield in the event of a getoff.

- What if helmets were 100% clear? Again, with the invisible protective garments. You'd have an amazing field of view and be way more protected than just wearing a beanie, plus no bugs in your teeth. Drawback is everyone around you would see how ugly you were... okay, scratch that.

- All telemetry be on a heads up display. Choose what you want to see, when you want to see it with a thought. Cool.

- Dedicated and accessible routes and land for recreational traffic, separate from commuter traffic. No policing. Choose from scenic cruise to MotoGP-smooth, twisty tarmac to hardcore Dakar Rally dunes without having to pony up airfare and travel time.

- a near future one would be an online configurator for accessories where you could see and hear the exhaust you're looking to buy on your bike (through AR/VR maybe)? Or how any rear rack would look on your current ride with hard or soft luggage? You could test ride it in VR to see how mods would affect your ride, would that tank bag get in the way cause it's too large?

Just pie in the sky stuff. Let's try to leave the "Ya, that'd be nice but it'll never happen because blah blah blah"

But really... Flying motorcycles. Make it so.

This is very doable with todays technology. It would be nice to have.

Another thing that would be really nice to have NOW, take a helmet for a test ride. I mean a wind tunnel.

Use a stock bike provided by the selling partner or bring your own bike into the wind tunnel. This way you can feel a helmet while riding and see how loud it is or how much buffer there is.

15 years ago I wanted to be able to ride my WeeStrom on the highway to a forest, then drop a cylinder and 100 pounds at the trailhead so I could rip around like a dirt bike. No more dirt/dual-sport/ADV compromises. That's never gonna happen, but maybe in 25 years we'll have something close where you could detach your heavy extended-range EV battery for charging and pick it up on your way back home.

More practically, I want a visor or set of glasses that will instantly and automatically dim to cancel out the ridiculous glare from today's LED/HID/laser beam/photon cannon headlights. Not dim the entire field of view, just dim the spots between my eyes and the oncoming headlights so that I can still see the road. Put the same technology in my car windshield too.

The simpler and more practical solution is a mirror aimed up a little to shine the stupid lights back in the eyes of the arsehole that thought they were a good idea.

The head up display would be awesome! Invisible clothing, not for me! What if all recreational sports and hobbies went VR and riding became a thing of the past? I will most likely be dead by 2050 so it won't be an issue for me, however my kids are going to inherit my bikes so it will matter to them! Although my son would be content with the VR!
