Hi Guys,

any suggestions for brand, I am not too keen about flashy style or designers one :), what I am looking for is a good, reliable decent jacket, I see a lot of people wear Icon and Joe Rocket, their prices vary from couple hundred to even thousands, are those jackets worth the investment?

Also any good places to buy within Mississauga area?

Sorry not looking for used jackets....

Never had experience with Icon products, but I have 2 Joe Rocket jackets and 1 pair of pants from them.

I like them a lot (ballistic nylon). I find they fit great and offer good protection. At their prices I think its a good investment (~$200-300). Never had a problem with them. Have had my jackets for 3 years now. Got in an accident wearing one of them and there wasn't any damage to the jacket, still wearing it haha.

Investment? Velocity is in Mississauga, custom fit for you - check out his thread in the group buy section for gloves too.

I'm not sure of your budget but if you're looking for quality, I recommend Dainese.
I have the Bora and recently purchased the Tattoo from Rider's choice in Mississauga.
The leather is incredibly soft and they breathe really well on those hot summer days.
I can't really comment on other brands because I've only purchased Dainese products.
At the end of the day, it all comes down to how much you want to spend.

Might wanna check em out http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-veh...ets-Jackets-Gloves-HID-LED-W0QQAdIdZ377048377

I grabbed a leather Dominator Jacket from em, and am very happy with it. Going back this weekend to pickup some riding boots they just got in.

Awesom quality jackets and superb customer service.

I just checked those guys out, met with Marc very nice guy would definitely give him 5 stars for customer service :) , jackets though both Held and Furygan are a little bit heavier than regular all leather ones, and they are close to $500 and up, don't want to pay that much.

Focus on fit, find what fits you well, then research models that fit you well.

Listen to the above advice. It will serve you best.

Go to the warehouse they have a sale on all weekend...gotta be crazy not to score this deal. Open also thurs and fri 11 to 4 every week.

OP we'd be of more help if you described what your body type's like.

European brands like Spidi, Dianese,Etc. will fit you exceptionally well if you're on the smaller side.

Teknic & shift would be in between the above & below brands

Joe rocket, Icon, etc. will fit the average build/bigger dudes well

Alpinestar will depend on the line, etc.

As mentioned before go try on as many different brands as possible then when you find one that fits go home and research it. Quality varies widely and changes yearly as I recently found out. Personally I just picked up a Teknic Violator and added the optional Knox padding to it. So far i have two solid weekends of riding on it and couldn't be happier.

I went to GP Bikes since i figured they stocked the most for me to try on. Try not to pay attention to brands since it should all be about fit. Everyone told me to look at Dainese but they actually fit the worst on me.

If it's just for everyday use, you don't need to drop $1,000+ on the best of the best. That stuff's designed for 200kph impacts on the track. Sure it will protect you great on the street too, but if money's an issue, don't pay for 200kph rated armor when the average street crash is around 30kph. Mid level gear like Icon and Joe rocket is rated for anything you are going to encounter in normal use. I wouldn't go for the cheapest you can find though, much of it has thin (non crash tested) padding, weak seams and poor fit that you will be regretting later.

If you're looking for something not too flashy, I can vouch for the icon Accelerant Stealth that I've worn for about a year and a bit. Makes you look more built in the upper body, slimmer at the waist and has full internal armor. I can wear it anywhere after I'm off my bike and not look out of place like I would waiting in line at the bank in a full one-piece Dainese track suit. It's got a removable liner and is decent in most of the weather I ride in.

Gotten me a number of compliments over the time I've had it.
