Importing something TO the US

I sold an exhaust on eBay. Guy that bought it is in Alaska. To save him some money on shipping I agreed to ship it from the US. When I cross the border will I have to pay taxes? Any idea how much?
 
You can say you are bringing it over to send to get it reconditioned, save on shipping while on a day trip or something. Just do not have the guys name marked on the box already lol.
 
Box it at a post office in the US. You don't have to pay to bring your own property across a border.
 
Sending it for repair is a great idea.

I already went to the US and I declared I sold it on eBay. Joked about Alaska with the guard and she sent me own my way. No issues.
