WTF, how is it these MP's can just switch over. If you were elected in running under a parties platform, how can you just flip teams. Your constituency should demand your resignation and there should be a by election.

[h=1]Conservative MP Eve Adams crosses floor
http://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/conservative-mp-eve-adams-crosses-floor-1.2227221[/h]

"I no longer feel at home in the Conservative party either politically or intellectually," she said........ really then quit and run under the otjher party

by the way, I don't care if this is conservative to liberal, NDP to conservative, Liberal to independent....

OK, I am puttng my soapbox away and i will be over there if you need me --------------------->

I realize this isnt the first time

Yep. Technically, we're voting for a person but in reality we're voting for a party. Politics doesn't like reality too much.

Knobs that do this are doing it for purely selfish reasons. The MP should resign and see if the people that elected her as a conservative would elect her as a liberal.

Most politicians just do it as a job. It's like a business

Lol illustrates the joke that our political system is... The reason we don't have representation by population is that your local candidate is supposed to represent your local interests.. But with the parties involved, the local candidate has to vote the way comrade Steve/Justin/Tom tells them to vote even if it involves throwing his/her constituents under the bus. If switching parties is evil, please tell my why rep by pop is a bad idea? Most Canadians would vote for a tree stump if it was painted the right colour anyway.

Just heard a sound clip on the radio of her rationale for jumping ship. It was pretty damning of Harper and his party.

Eve Adams for prime minister, good looking lady. She could be with the communist party who cares she's got my vote :D

I guess she took that letter I sent her last week very seriously... the one about how I disagree with bill C-51 ;-)

From the Star article it would appear that Adams was apparently frozen out by the Conservatives anyway, so it is not surprising that she left since she is no longer welcome where she was.

In a statement Monday, John Walsh, president of the Conservative Party of Canada, said that Adams had been formally told on Jan. 29 that she would not be allowed to run because of “misconduct” during the nomination in Oakville North—Burlington.

“I communicated clearly that our party takes our nomination rules and procedures seriously, and we made a commitment to run fair and open nominations, and any misconduct from candidates, including caucus members, would not be tolerated,” Walsh said the statement.

I am in the riding she represents and personally I am glad there will be someone new running under the Conservative party this fall in case I decide to vote that way (which is yet to be determined). It also sounds like she won't be running in my area under any banner, which to me is also good news as I don't have a lot of use for Adams. I think she always got elected based on her looks, as the bandit demonstrated above, and not on her merit.

Harper 'invited' a few people to cross the floor when he won his first election too. This was right after he'd said that he wouldn't behave like the previous Liberal government and specifically called out that sort of thing. It only took about a month (likely less) before I realized that no matter what he said, he was just like everyone else, and I'd not be voting for him again.

Given that in our system of government the leader has a remarkable amount of power, we're always essentially voting for the party we want to see form the government. The theory is that we vote for our local rep, but the practice is far different. With that in mind, my feeling is that any floor crossing should trigger an immediate by-election.

And remember that Bob Rae suddenly found himself to be a Liberal, when it suited him.

Next time making a box and will put under the book "whom is not a ********* and won't screw over the public for their own gain.

You should read up. This woman is an idiot. And was banned recently by the Conservative party from running again. Also Google her gas station video and about her boyfriend Dimitri Soudas..This is more like a win for the conservatives and shows Trudeau has poor leadership skills and is desperate.

I want to support a leader who strongly and unequivocally supports a woman's right to chose.

Wholy crap, she makes harper sound like a rapist. What about the men who voted for her? I guess it doesn't play into her "I'm a woman so all women should vote for me" card. I'm sure she's done more to harm women's rights than to promote it. I haven't seen anyone this fake in a really long time.

Why did you guys even vote for her?

Liberals don't want Adams... they could care less about her. They wanted her fiance Dimitri... and only took her to get him.

Most didn't. They voted Conservative, which happened to have Ms. Plastiface tied to the ballot. That's the whole point of this thread about crossing the floor in between elections.
