I need to move a bike.

I am looking to buy a bike from London ON, and transport it to Barrie ON. It's about two hours driving.
Any recommendations on a bike moving/transportation company or individual?
It's a 2011 ninja 400.
Thanks in advance.
Steve.

got some good weather the next couple of days, see if you can ride it?

A ninja 400 will fit easily into pickup or cargo van. $99 / day unlimited mileage from Dollar Truck.

It's 255 km. I'm halfway between. From my place to London then to Barrie and back to my place is therefore about 510 km (a little more because I'm not exactly on the direct route). At 12 litres per 100 km that's about $60. The killer is the charge-out rate for my time. 6 hours at you-don't-want-to-know per hour.

Buy something that's in your area ... even if it costs a little more.

Exactly...I had found the same year and colour fz8 as mine with about 5k less on it for almost 1k cheaper, but would have been a 6 hour round trip not counting for stops. Wasn't worth it to me, the difference ended up being only a few hundred and at least I got to see it before committing to it.

But if you have to have that bike I've used @adri a few times for localish transport and @infernobuster once for a Hamilton to Aurora trip. Both had decent rates and great service.

You can also try uship. I’ve brought bikes from a Ottawa and Montreal, door to door for $120

I have access to a cargo van but I don't have a ramp and experience loading it
A 2x12 10 ‘ makes a simple ramp. Drill a hole in one end, thread a rope thru and tie it to the truck so it doesn’t slip back during loading/unloading.

Walk the bike up the ramp, set it on the side stand.

Put the bike in gear.

Thread a strap around the bars between the risers and secure the bike. Pulling down the front suspension by 1.5” should do.

Drive.

I have used them 50+ times for this and that, always impressed me. There are hundreds of small operators roving around in small trucks and trailers. If you are flexible on pickup dates, they are way cheaper and safer than LTL and couriers.

My buddy had a 19’ boat towed from Saskatoon to Minden, door to door for $400.

CAA is also an option. I’ve used them in the past and you also get the year of coverage afterwards. I already had the coverage and the bike but you could possibly buy the coverage and order the tow. ?‍♂️

Josh and I picked up his new bike in Chatham yesterday, it was a 16 hour trip for me :| (hit bad traffic at Trafalgar road coming home)
cost him near 200$ in diesel fuel.
Great idea. I don't have a hitch tough. Thanks.
Lot easier to find an M licensed rider then a truck or trailer, but you need the plates and insurance in place first for that too.
