Hi hope someone can help me trouble shoot this problem.Ok I got a used set of Fairings and tank put the fairings on first I was not going to put the other tank on but I did. When I switched the tanks I noticed some cracking in the gas lines so I put new ones but they are about an inch inch and a quarter longer. After doing this I rode the bike to brampton from Mississauga with no problem .On the way back got almost home bike started sputtering and then died.So I pulled over to see what was up thought maybe lined got kinked and maybe was no flow so moved them a bit and realized that was not the problem turned fuel to res and started up a drove fine put it away .Now maybe an hour ago I went over started the bike ran fine got on drove to the corner of the street and it started sputtering again and died completely tried to start it without choke on and wouldn't start put choke on started for a about 15-20 sec and than died again pushed it home. Now I'm wondering is it the obvious carbs are clogged from putting the new tank or could the new fuel lines being a bit longer that could be the problem?

I want to thank all of you that give some advise in advance it is much appreciated.

Cheers

So you rode it home on res, started it up just now and it died again and wouldn't start. Is there fuel in the tank?

Put the bike into gear and without holding the clutch, hit the start button. Can you hear the fuel pump clicking away without any resistance?

Ok when I change the tanks I didn't pay attention where which hose went where on the tank so just took a guess and put hoses on. I think I have them backwards so res is on and on is res .Anyway there is fuel in the bike enough that I can see it .When I rode it the other day and it died I had fuel on res all the way to brampton and back got half a kilometre from home and it started to sputter pulled over and checked fuel lines for kink didnt see any than changed it to on it started fine ran fine drove it home put it away that was two days ago.Tonight I started it up no problem ran it to warm up got on drove down the street made a left started sputtering like it wasn't getting fuel stopped running. So I checked fuel lines again nothing there turned fuel to res put choke on it started for like 15-20 sec and than died again pushed it home .Yes I can hear the fuel pump clicking away .Thanks Sixstring

If the fuel pump just clicks a few times and stops or slows then it means the carbs are full of fuel. If the fuel pump keeps clicking with no slowing down (or if it speeds up) then it means the pump isn't getting fuel (or your float bowl valves are done) in which case, check your petcock hoses, the hose going from the petcock to the filter, and the filter.

The oem filter should be blue. If is yellow or black, replace the filter.

Download a service manual for yuour bike and make sure your fuel lines are on correct.

Ok I looked at the petcock lines they seem to be fine the filter is yellowish white and now my battery is dead but before it died I could here a lot of clicking?im not sure what was clicking if it was the starter or the fuel pump im kind of lost now thinking Im gonna have to suck it up and put it in the shop;( I just don't have enough experience with this sort of stuff so if anybody thinks they know what I should do please don't hesitate to let me know
Cheers
