I wonder if the tube was filled with sand to prevent it from collapsing. It's one thing to make the bend. Keeping the bends on the right plane is another.
Sand or salt. I've bent a few still column chiller coils by hand, they are copper and not too difficult to work with as they don't need heat. Winding a double around a 1" core takes work -- I always use salt as it's easier to pour and clean from the tube. But they will collapse and kink unless they are filled before bending, I'm assuming these benders did the same.
I want to rig a custom dual side exhaust for an old Yamaha Vtwin using stock the cans off an FJR. Might be worth trying the technique in the video.
I have a Wolf Exhaust for a GPZ, made back in back in the day by Gary Wolf in Cambridge. It has similar bends. I'm just wondering if this is the technique he used.
