i got my m1 in mail but there is a mistake

You shouldn't have gotten your M1 in the mail. You should have your regular G2 license + paper M1 that you got when you passed your M1 written test. You will get a real G2M2 when you will pass your M2 riding test, as M1 expires in 90 days.
 
oh ok i had my g2 long time ago but they sent me a new one now and i got the m1 paper. hopefully will get the m2 in august :) thanks

Ya I asked myself the same thing in the beginning back in May, then realized it was only temporary.
 
Does your old one have a magnetic strip on the back ? If so then you just got an updated G2 which has nothing to do with you getting M1. MTO is getting rid of the magnetic strip cards.
 
Either you're mistaken or an error was made on MTO's part.

Your M1 does not affect anything on your current licence, thus all the info on your new card should be identical. As malim said, the MTO is phasing out the old mag stripe cards and replacing them with barcode cards, this should be the card you received.

How long ago did you receive your G2?

There are better ways for the MTO to waste money than sending out duplicate cards on purpose.
 
i got my g2 in summer 2011. no mto sent me a new g2 with the pic i took when i went for my m1

Well they actually do. I got my picture taken when I got my M1; however I didn't receive a card until I came in with the paperwork from the MSF for M2. Only then they've sent me the GM2 with the new picture. I guess it is to discretion of the clerk especially if you are younger looking and you've changed since the last time they took a picture.

I wonder if it's the clerk's mistake when processing the application, because it's just odd. You are not the first one though, there were a couple of threads on here recently with the same situation as you.

Learn somethin' new everyday!

I just showed up, waited in line, took the test, grabbed my paper and I was out.
 
They made me retake the vision test, but no new picture.
 
When I got mine (a few years ago) they didn't make me take a new picture but they DID randomly send me a new G license.. I thought the same thing, I went in to the MTO with my paper M1 and said "this is supposed to say GM1 and it still just says G" Nope... "the system" just randomly sends out a new card because u where in hear applying for new license class.. but we don't print M1, you will get ANOTHER new card in 60 days when you get your M2...
