I don't want to live in this province (country?) anymore.....

What? This is a business generating revenue, employing people, bringing in tourists and helping the local economy.

That's completely against government policy. It seems like no one is being screwed here, so it must go.

Another example of bureaucrats executing their master plan with complete disregard for the people and province they serve.

Don't leave Ontario. Ontario rocks. Fire the damn bureaucrats.

I don't see why we should be subsidizing horse racing. There's something like 23 tracks in Ontario? That's a pretty hefty infrastructure for what amounts to a dying form of entertainment.

where are the old ppl gonna go gamble now???

<<rhetorical question>>

I was under the impression that those particular facilities weren't profitable? So it was basically subsidized employment? Could be wrong..but I thought I read that.

There was another article I read maybe a month ago about the subsidy. I can't remember the actual numbers but when one considers the number of people working in the industry it seemed reasonable that the total amount given out as a subsidy could be recouped as income tax and sales tax revenue. If that's the case then it's really no gain or loss but it does keep thousands of Ontarians employed.

sounds like a good way to get some of that pension money back from the gamblers :P why would they get rid of this??

It's not just the province. It's the whole planet. I hear Mars is nice this time of year.....
