Hey Guys,

I am doing a trip out to Southampton to take a couple days out of the city and float downstream in the "mighty" Saugeen River. I am leaving at 4PM today after work on my Honda CM400 with my friend on a CM450 so I am sticking to major highways and the route that google tells me in fear of getting caught in the dark on the way up, I know that google says it takes 4 hours, we leave at 4 I should be good.

However on the way back I can take my time and use a bunch of back roads.

I have attached links to the ride up : http://goo.gl/maps/RJrV

And moved things around for a more interesting ride back. : http://goo.gl/maps/OhZQ

Please let me know if there any must see roads or areas around that I have missed. Thanks.

I would connect to Beaver valley road from HWY10/6 which is county road 13 at some point to meet up with 26 which heads to Owen Sound.

The ride from Markdale to Owen Sound is fairly spartan, might add another 30-60 minutes more to the ride.

Be careful of the OPP prescence from Owen Sound to Southampton.

I had my trailer up at MacGregor Provincial Park this summer. Here's the route I would take:

Hwy 10
Left on Ridell Rd to bypass Orangeville
Left on CR 109
Right on CR 109/Hwy 9 towards Minto
Just as you're leaving Mildmay, take a left onto Hwy 3
Follow Hwy 3 and turn right onto Hwy 21 into Southhampton

I've tried your route and the roads were busier and it took longer. I wouldn't suggest going through Owen Sound as that would kill your time.

Don't know any other route than hwy 10/6, but if your staying over night, have breakfast at The Lighthouse Restaurant on the corner. Best old fashioned breakfast.
