How's the Motor Company doing ?

It's hard to feel sorry for HD. They should have seen this coming decades ago, but no "push rods have worked for 100 years why change now"
Don't worry, shoe guy well.sell the branding for all its worth. Expect pirate apparel at Costco soon enough.

Meh, seems like the crowd "that doesn't care" cares the most.
Let them or any company sell what and where they like.
If they survive, great. If they don't, just another company going under.
As a HD owner, I'll let HD handle their business and I'll handle mine.

Maybe there IS a limit to how much someone will pay for a product regardless of the brand cache or so-called "story" you're trying to tell.

Kelowna HD had about 15 or 20 designs of their T-shirts on sale for $10 each last winter (sticker tag was $34.99-39.99 I believe) Got 10 of them for friends and family. Would never buy a single one at retail cost. Banff HD is closer to $50/per.

Doesn't look good for HD. Over all motorcycle sales in North America are up this year continuing the trend that started with Covid.

I thought this was about ford.

The core customer for HD is a white guy, probably late 40's and up, mix of blue and white collar, predominantly blue I think.

If you're a blue collar guy, life has been tough in terms of employment opportunities, wages rates, interest rates, covid etc........ You are less likely to have disposable income, so a $25k - 50K bike is out of reach for many. Demographically, especially in the U.S., this group of people are dying off and in an increasing minority.

If you're a white collar guy, the prototypical dentist or lawyer who doesn't shave on Saturday so he can hang out with the rest of the posers at Timmies, these guys have always been in the minority of HD owners.

Could be completely wrong, but I see HD dying a slow death where sales dry up year by year and the company eventually folds in 15 - 20 years.

Yeah, but they were saying that in the '30s, then again in the '60s, then the '70s.... ( I would have included the '40s but they made bank during WW2. The Gov tendered for a CHEAP 500cc, and Harley submitted an EXPENSIVE 750, and somehow sold 100,000 bikes. Some were made at the Massey Ferguson tractor factory in Toronto).
Remember when Willey took it over? They didn't think that would last a week.
The company is a phoenix
