Hi, one of my friend's dad has a motorcycle here in Canada but he currently resides. He wants his dad to transfer ownership over to him so he can start riding.

How would someone go about transferring ownership in a situation like that?

Thanks

You really only need a signed ownership transfer as well as a UVIP to transfer the bike. Even the UVIP you should be able to get yourself although its the sellers responsibility.

go to the US and mail the ownership to his dad, have him sign it and send it back. Maybe the strike will be over by then.

Or courier it.

Nothing here about Nigeria, Nigerians or oilrigs are there?

No... lol.

The actual person doesn't have to be there?. Also a UVIP wouldn't really be needed in this situation, least i dont think its required...

If it's father to son and it's legit just have the son sign his dad's name.
No need for over thinking.

When was the last time you saw someone at the DoT scrutineer the signature on an ownership? My guess would be never.

So to beat the tax there is another form you will need to notarize with both signatures. Hope you have a lawyer friend handy to do the notarizing. Bike then passes free to family member. License office has the form you need.
