Hello:

Anyone has ever had similar situation before? Where you have paid the Notice of Fine already and then realize that you could go to trial for the ticket before paying it.

First of all I missed my court date on Aug 7th 2012...

Then I received the Notice of Fine letter on Monday the 13th of Aug, 2012, and paid it online on the same day.

I went to talk to the traffic office today and they told me I still have the option to appeal and gave me the forms for appealing the conviction.

Can anyone advice me on the process of appealing ?

The ticket is for 15 over 40km/hr zone.

Thanks

what do you mean by "then [I realized] that you could go to trial for the ticket before paying it."

what did you think would happen at your court date? did you receive a notice of trial?

get a reduced fine and hope for a lesser charge atleast, or even for them to scrap the charge...

You missed the court date then you paid the fine Sorry Charlie You are now convicted and you confirmed that with Payment!

Before appealing, consider whether or not it's worth your trouble. A 15 over conviction carries no points. The fine isn't very high, so you aren't likely to reduce it by as much as the effort will cost you overall. As it's a minor conviction it doesn't count against your insurance any more than, say, a 5 Kmh over conviction would. Do you have any likelihood of having the original conviction completely quashed? If not, is it worth your time and effort? Can you demonstrate valid grounds for an appeal? Also consider that if the conviction was for a speed less than that at which you were recorded, then the charge may be appended at appeal to the original speed.

Already having paid your fine IS NOT an impediment to an appeal. In fact it is necessary, unless you had first moved to stay the payment pending appeal.
