I would like to post a map image,
(with a block of text underneath).

I printed screen of google map and pasted, but it failed.
I tried adding a short url but opened only in another tab or window.

Instructions appreciated.

HTML:
<iframe width="425" height="350" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" src="https://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Toronto,+ON,+Canada&aq=0&oq=toronto&sll=56,-96&sspn=89.167783,146.953125&t=h&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Toronto,+Toronto+Division,+Ontario,+Canada&z=11&iwloc=A&output=embed"></iframe><br /><small><a href="https://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=embed&hl=en&geocode=&q=Toronto,+ON,+Canada&aq=0&oq=toronto&sll=56,-96&sspn=89.167783,146.953125&t=h&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Toronto,+Toronto+Division,+Ontario,+Canada&z=11&iwloc=A" style="color:#0000FF;text-align:left">View Larger Map</a></small>

Ya that didn't work.
Dunno, have you seen it done before?

nope. I have experimented capturing google map for email which is easy, printed screen and pasted on word doc's but they aren't accepted on gtam. I tried to shorten the incredibly long url and hyperlinking, but that didn't work and too many characters.

The maps I want to attach reveal distance traveled and are really cool.

Hey, thanx for trying.

iframes are usually always not allowed on forums and websites, as they can put anything into the iframe (virus/spyware).

I would think the only way is to link to it or take a screenshot of it with the image linking to google maps or have Paul grab a google maps plugin/addon.

Google maps has a built in short url service called goo.gl. Its integrated into google maps.

Its right under "Paste link in email or IM" on the right hand side.

To answer your original question:

print screen, crop the image if necessary. Save the image as jpg on your desktop. Visit http://imgur.com and upload from comp. imgur will give you the code to insert this into a forum.
