How should I fix her up?

I got hit by a pick up over the weekend that left my baby and me a little bruised.

Thankfully, the bike still runs at idle without hiccups, haven't ridden since the accident, but I'm sure nothing is wrong mechanically.
The left side fairing is beyond repair, brackets might not be salvageable either. Ebay doesn't have a worthy replacement for left. Suzuki of Brampton parts department wants 300 bucks just for the left panel (no stickers).

Any advice GTAM?

Edit: Bike is no longer in my possession. Alls well that ends well.

who cares the cost, make the guy with the pickup pay

Cop put me at fault. I don't know how I could be at fault if the guy makes a turn into my lane when I'm next to him, but according to the officer at the scene, what the witness saw and told him made the difference in his judgement. I'm waiting on my insurance to call me back for more details on the accident and I sure as hell don't agree with the officers' assessment and highly question the integrity of the witness.

For now, this is contingency planning in case things don't go my way since I only have liability insurance.

Did you look at the site I told you about? From what I understand they have good pricing on parts but have not tried it...

where did your side panel go? stitch it up.

and PS: That bracket is welded on, you can salvage it with some heat and pliers. but be careful if you break those welds it will cost you more $$.

Ive managed to bend those brackets back into place on another member's gs.....just be careful

Couldn't find the specific plastic I needed.

I removed the fairings before I took that pic. I'm missing a piece here and there that were left behind at the crash scene. Yeah, bending the brackets might be difficult but worth a shot if I manage to find a whole left panel.

I really want to get the bike fixed up asap. I could ride it now, but I don't think it'd be safe riding it with one mirror on the right side. Maybe some bar end mirros off ebay could suffice for the short term.

I get the feeling that I won't find the proper panel to restore her back to original so naked will realistically be my only option, though doing a street fighter would be amazing! Winter is coming up...

For now I'll have to find a head lamp and turn signals to make it look like the old gs500, so I'm thinking scrap yards will be the place to start thanks to a previous post. Still have to wait on insurance...so frustrating.

i'd go streetfighter for sure... don't worry about being driver 1. I was also in an accident, the officer put me as driver one. I called my insurance company claims department, i walked they through the accident and i was found 0% liable. Didn't pay a cent. They took care of everything down to my gear as well. So don't stress it bro

It sounds like you may already realize this, but just in case: the adjuster's findings will not necessarily agree with the officer's. This can work both ways.

The problem with the fairing on the GS500F is that its main function is an ablative crash shield - finding the fairing at a wrecker is unlikely, as it's the first thing to break in an accident. $300 isn't too bad - you may be able to find reproduction stickers somewhere else too.

Street fighter it, or I can sell you my fairings when I take them off my bike. Making mine naked in the Fall/Winter.

Glad your ok:)

Yup....but insurance came through and found the other driver at fault and paid me a lump sum for the bike. No longer in my possession!

Hey Raph! I don't think your fairings would fit on my cbr or that moto guzzi I've been lusting after recently hahaha.

I still got that brand new universal headlight+turn signal kit for sale. Great for naked bikes. $50
