How quick can one get on the road?

Hey,

So between putting cash in hand to getting the bike on the road legally, can that be done in one day? I know Friday is a holiday, but MTO offices are open on Saturdays (not for long I know) so it should still be open this Saturday right? I think the only concern would be proof of insurance, right? They won't give me plates and I can't ride until I have they mail that to me? Or can I ask them to fax it somehow?

I can't stand another beautiful weekend bikeless.

Yes, you COULD ride around without having the actual slips, but you COULD be given a ticket for not having proof of insurance. IF you were to get such a ticket, you WILL have to spend your time to go down to the courthouse and wait around to see a justice or something like that to show THEM proof of insurance.

its actually called a TTP, time to produce, you go to a specific police location and just show them you have insurance if you don't have it on you. Assuming this is your first bike, remember to take your time and go slow, you have a lifetime of riding, don't rush.

that won't necessarily get you out of a failure to produce (proof of insurance) charge.

I went thru a similar thing. I just got my bike over a week ago. As long as you have your insurance, UVIP (heard from some ppl UVIP is not required, but I had it) proof of safety, you can get plates. I went thru State farm and I spoke to the guy in the morning, he emailed me temp insurance within 3 hours or so. Take all that to Service Ontario and they will give you the plates, and you will be riding the same day.

I would have got everything done in the same day (Saturday), except I missed the closing of Service Ontario office by like 10 min. People were still walking out but they wouldn't let me in. Only weekend where I actually wanted it to be Monday.

Just call the seller, get the vin number set up insurance. They will fax you a temp proof of insurance. Go to the mto, register the bike get a plate and a temp sticker, get cert whenever.
