how much does it usually cost to mount front and rear tires plus balancing?

Pretty sure I paid $20 to have a front tire swapped. I brought in the wheel and tires myself.

Snow City Cycle charges $26/tire + tax = $34 to mount and balance, bring the wheel in. They did a good job, too. Tire and valve extra. Note there is an environmental tax on all tires.

For that price you could probably come out even if you bought stands and brought the wheels somewhere, and then you'd have stands

Why would they charge more for the rear? It is easier... I assume these are prices for the wheels still being on the bike. Otherwise, they are on crack!

actually that's wrong, they charge more. and you have to purchase the wheel with them..

i can get them done @ 20$ a wheel.

Seems a little strange to charge more for the rear. I guess we are assuming they have a sport bike.

Perhaps they have a cruiser with lots of parts that need to be removed to get the wheel off? I know Goldwings require a lot more time for tire changes.

Two words. Rip off. Larry's in Orangeville tried the whole oh you didn't buy the tires here so we need to charge more. 160 to swap em. I laughed all the way out the door. West end cycle in Caledon was super cool and did it for me for I think 60? Both wheels on the bike and I tipped him for not making me wait.

that's what the rep told me "We don’t mind installing tires purchased elsewhere but please keep in mind that install price changes if you bring us the tires".

Cyclewerx told me $25 when I called, then it went up to $30 plus tax when I picked it up. Whatever. FWIW the guy I picked it up from (presumably the owner) was a bit of an angry dickhead. They did a fine, super quick job though. Called me 90 minutes after I dropped off the rim and tire.

My local shops were past $60+ea tire and only if I bought from them. Next place close to me i'd assume belleville which is quite the drive.

I just had my front replaced 2 weeks ago. The charges I quoted were straight from my receipt. They do not charge more. If they charge more then prove it.

Good point, although last month Tony told me a story where he changed a guy's Goldwing back tire by laying it down on the ground on his lawn. Said it was way faster that way haha :D

That is pretty retarded if true. They want $150 for 20 minutes labour.

If you ride a lot, learn how to do it yourself. Not all that difficult. Don't need any super specialized equipment - google it.

I will give you $500 cash if you can remove wheels, remove tires, install tires, balance and reinstall wheels in 20 minutes.

those prices are for the wheels still on the bike, i guess they assumed i'm going to bring the whole bike. anyway if i bring them the wheels it will cost 42.98 per wheel plus tax.

To which I replied to mine that if they didn't charge an astronomical amount for tires I'd buy there. It was cheaper ordering them from Petes and paying for install than it was for their tire price before tax. Money is money.
