How does Power Commander 3 store its settings?

I ask because I removed the battery to charge it. I know that if you remove the battery, on certain bikes everything gets reset except for the odometer stuff (shift light, brightness, etc.).

I don't want to risk wiping the PC3 settings as I do not have a back up of it nor do I want to stand outside and freeze my *** off to back it up lol

EDIT: Also, it's been since November since I last turned on any of the bikes (250R x2 and GSX R750) yet somehow the batteries are still reading 12.9v+. My old GS500F's battery would eat itself after a month and need charging, wtf is going on lol

The maps are stored in non-volatile memory. You're good to remove the battery.

From DynoJet's FAQ:

If I disconnect my battery will the Power Commander lose it's map?
No, all Power Commanders utilize a nonvolatile memory (it does not require constant power to maintain it). The only way a map can be “erased” is to use a computer to load a new one in place of it.

I read that too but then Google results always make me paranoid.

It will be fine but if your paranoid just save it to your PC (should do this anyway) and then you can reload if reqd.
