how does collision work out of province?

So I just moved to BC last week and am in the process of changing my license over and someone smoked me in the gas station today.

I called ICBC after talking to the Police and they said since I wasn't moving I'm not at fault but to call my own insurance who will talk to them. I assume that means my premiums won't increase right?

I don't have collision on my bike and there is probably about +1500 in damage (2 cracked fairings, snapped off mirror, bent clutch lever, broken brake handle, broken lights, broken windsheild). What are my options at this point? Is it better to deal with the guy directly or go through insurance and if I go through insurance am I entitled to anything or am I SOL because I don't have collision?

I didn't give any personal info to ICBC and haven't spoken to Jevco yet, so some advice would be great.

I figure I could fix it myself if I had to...I've plastic welded before.

You don't need collision if you are not at fault, other driver's liability covers you. collision will only help if you are at fault.

Mad poet is right.

Obtain a copy of the police report, and make sure you have a recent picture of your bike showing no prior damage.

I called the police and they said they weren't going to come, do I go file a report then? And I have photos from April 8th is that recent enough?

Also how detailed of a picwould they need?

Research your local collision reporting centers. Take the bike there and have them do a report. Police only usually come if;
There are injuries reported
OR/AND
there's greater than $3,000.00 damage per vehicle.

Detailed enough that you can see there's no damage prior to the loss. Kind of "that was there before" type detail.

you report by calling icbc
