How do you mount a GoPro on a helmet/bike?

I'm looking to buy a GoPro camera but I'm not sure how to mount it on my helmet or my bike? Is it possible to mount on the chin of the helmet so the camera doesn't mount on the top (looks weird)? Is it better to mount on the helmet or bike if I want to use it to defend myself in case of an accident that I'm not at fault (I hope I won't have to use it that way...)
What mounting accessories do I need to get?

note: I have a RF1100 helmet

The 1100 has a great spot for a chin mount. Not my fav spot, but it may work well for u. The adhesive pads are very hard to remove. Be sure where u want to place the adhesive. I have a Nolan n103 modular so the chin mount is not
Avail.

I like the side angled mount. I find it gives the best, coolest perspective. I also like the top of helmet mount.

Also to note. There is an update for te goPro that allows you to now watch the footage via your smart phone or tablet .
It works very well for me.
Make sure you buy you goPro from a retailer that accepts exchanges within 30 days or a full refund. Many goPro owners find themselves owning nothing more then a plastic brick. Meaning, the goPro does not work. Sadly, that does happen.

I've been very happy with mine. I even use the camera as an external storage Device. I move other large files from one computer to another via the goPro..

Good luck! (Sorry for the long reply) :)

I would look to purchase a different camera. I will never support GoPro again. They basically stopped giving a crap about the Hero2 when the hero3 came out. Lots of software issues and bricked cameras. Support is a joke, they keep telling me to do the same thing over and over.

I went with GoPro because I thought they were an industry leader (like some vendors would have you believe). But if they are, then I fear for the industry. Why would anyone want a rectangle stuck on their head, when they could get a contour which is a nice sleek cylinder shape?

Do what you want, but I hope they don't treat the Hero3 people like they have the Hero2 customers.

The optional chest mount harness works well on a bike.

And yeah in Ontario it's illegal to mount anything on your helmet.

I find mounting on the helmet gives best results(legal or not). Mounting on the bike, you may get vibration depending on how and where you mount it and it can make the video annoying to watch.

There's lots of do-it-yourself mounting styles. Just do a google search.

What about communication devices?? I'm sure every one mounts some sorta bluetooth device on their helmets...

What about them? Yes, they would be illegal in the context of the law. You'd be awfully unlucky to get a ticket of course, but it may happen.
