How CV carbs actually work!

Ah but what about some flat slides! Give it a little more go :)

Partially incorrect on the pressures bit on carbs at altitude.

The reason has nothing to do with pressure, and more to do with O2 content at altitude, and that the main jet cannot be physically down-sized to compensate for the lack of O2 in the air.

I got this from someone who posted it at the Canadian Ural Riders Group website, and thought I'd share it here. If you're into the technical side of things, it shows how and why we still see Constant Velocity style carbs on many bikes today, and why they still work even in higher altitudes where most people assume we need Fuel Injection.

After putting my factory pro stage 3 upgraded 38s on for the first half of the season, th mikuni 36 radial slides are back on. The cvs are a bit soft in comparison and the rs are easier to rejet etc. All The cvs will prolly suffer similar rich running issues if you introduce an increase in altitude. My cvs were extremely sensitive wnd of notoriously bad temprament.
