this is news article. http://aol.sportingnews.com/mlb/sto...o-but-mourn-a-tragedy-after-fan-dies-in-texas

Quote from article:

Stone was telling the paramedics “Please, someone please get my son. Please check on my son. He’s up there all by himself.”
“One of the paramedics was right there, said, 'Sir, we’ll get your son. Your son’s going to be OK. Don’t worry about your son.’ ”
A few minutes later in the ambulance, Stone died.

before reading the article, from the video it looked like he fell head first. so it's believable that he died from head injury and/or snapped his neck. but from the article it said that the guy who fell actually spoke, meaning he was conscious. then died minutes later.

so he would not have snapped his neck cuz if he did he would not be able to speak. if he cracked his head open he would be unconscious too. weird eh? how could a person just die randomly like that? it's like a scene from the movie final destination.

I'm guessing that he suffered some damage to some internal organs.

Anyways.. What a horrible accident. Imagine being that kid. He would have been disappointed if he didn't get the ball, but if he knew what the alternative was...

Terrible. On many levels. :(

A hit to the head can turn fatal fast. Look at that lady (forget her name) I believe 3 years ago she fell over at a ski slope in Quebec, she died a short time after. From what I remember she just fell over in the snow.

i imagine it was a brain trauma, which allowed him to remain conscious for a little bit, but then the swelling got out of control and the lights went out, and he never recovered.

truly sad, especially considering another guy fell last year in the same area, but survived. heart breaking, actually.

looks like he fell head first. that's a twenty foot drop (i heard on the radio).

if he landed on his head, he'd likely be unconscious. from the news article and video, i'd guess that he snapped his neck back and damaged his spine or spinal cord. as the swelling from the injury developed over the following minutes, his spinal cord could have been further crushed and then destroyed causing him to stop breathing and die.

he could have also died from internal bleeding. the spleen, the aorta, the lungs...they're all good candidates. the brain as well, if he developed a bleed there that slowly pushed against his brain and caused it to "cone" or compress downward, shutting off his vital functions.

either way it's tragic and so sad.

they should have some netting or ledge there to catch people who fall like that.

Sounds like we have some jr. Medics around. All viable theories.

Seems like there have been a bunch of sports related deaths in the last few weeks no?
the 'bogie incident, AMA motocross had a guy die due to heat stroke, Saturday we had a MX racer die in an incident at Walton, and this guy.
Also have heard through my grapevine about a whole slew of serious MX injuries this year, more so than most years that I can remember.

Who knows what was at the bottom of the pit. It could have been flat and empty or full of mechanical equipment. The seating was no more dangerous than the front row of a theatre balcony other than the likelyhood of someone lunging for a ball. Just one of those sad life events.

while as sad as it may be, there might be a lesson in it. If Dude didnt try to be a penis, and steal the ball from the guy that it was tossed to, he'd still be alive.

he clearly goes out of his way to snag the ball of of the glove that it looked like it was thrown to.

probably the same kinda guy that would jump over kids for a T-Shirt shot out of a cannon as well.

for being in the line of work he was in ( helping others as a Fireman ) im suprised at his act of greed

uhm, i must have missed that version of events.

the accounts i've read said that the outfielder, hamilton, specifically threw it towards the guy, precisely because he was there with his son. tragically, the throw was short, and when he reached for it, he stumbled and fell. the guy had previously yelled for hamilton to toss him a ball for his son, and hamilton had basically agreed that the next foul ball would be for the guy's son. . .

where did you see your version reported?

just watch the video. his kid was sitting close to the guy with the glove, so the father looked like he had been sitting on the right of his son.

you can clearly see the guy leaning over in front of the guy with the glove. this puts him off balance, and he goes over. if his hand wasnt there, that ball would have landed directly in the glove
