Topic. Just curious...if it's right, Jevco here I come (in 3 months lol..or maybe next month!)

Sometimes way off. It gives you an idea of who to call though. I use Kanetix to check the rates for different cars before I buy anything. Even if the absolute numbers are wrong, the relative difference should be close.

FWIW, I've found the TD Insurance online calculator incredibly accurate for my car and home insurance.

We are sorry to hear you were not satisfied with your most recent experience at Kanetix.ca. At Kanetix, we are continuously working with our insurance partners to ensure that the quotes offered through our site are as up-to-date and accurate as possible.

At the present time, we only provide online motorcycle quotes from one provider. Unlike auto insurance, where there are many companies and brokers; unfortunately, there are not many providers for motorcycle insurance. Nevertheless, we are always looking at ways to add more providers to our service to make our online motorcycle insurance quotes more competitive.

We truly hope you will keep Kanetix.ca in mind the next time you shop around for insurance. Your feedback is valuable to us and helps us improve our service. If you would like to discuss your quote further, please do not hesitate to contact us at 1-888-854-2503 (416-598-5401) or kanetix_support@kanetix.ca

Jevo's quote from Kanetix was nearly 100% on (was like 50 $ cheaper when I called). Just to let you guys know, decided to just verify it since I'm switching out of TD.

LMAO...... my zx12 was $6500 without collision!

Maybe they buy you the bike and give you insurance for the year?

All I have to say is we get RAPED when it comes to insurance in Canada. Back to State Farm again!

The quote I got from kanetix was $1000 more than what I was quoted over the phone with a broker using Jevco.
On top of that, I didn't include my accident or ticket on my record for the kanetix quote.

I pay $1560 with SF the thing qouted me $8500

I said it before and ill say it again even if Viffer disagrees with me. Kanetix.ca should just quit doing online motorcycle quotes. They don't have multiple company's to give you comparisons from. Even if its just from Jevco the quotes they give are far far FAR above what a broker the represents Jevco give you. So I ask what is the point of doing online motorcycle if they keep this up? I hear the site isn't bad for car quotes though.

Well they don't really have a reason to take anything off the site as its one of the top sites that supply online insurance quotes when you search for it in google. The wider variety of vehicles they give you a quote for, the more traffic the site gets which means the more money the host gets for ads.

They don't just do this out of the goodness of their heart.

All I stated is that their motorcycle quotes are worthless. I didn't demand they have to do something about it. I voice an opinion saying should, not have to.

Every time I use Kanetix for motorcycle quotes they are pretty much the same quotes I get from my Jevco rep; give or take $20 to $30. It comes in handy around renewal time, if I choose to shop around and actually have to call people for a ball park figure quote.

I don't recall disagreeing with that. Kanetix is pretty good for Auto quotes, but like they stated above, they only provide a quote with a single company (Jevco) for motorcycles. If someone thinks that an online quote with Kanetix is as good as calling every motorcycle-insuring company, then the quote is drastically misleading. Perhaps with the quote, Kanetix should disclose the number of companies that were quoted?

TD is a direct writer, providing quotes for their own company on their own website, so it makes sense that it should be very accurate.

Kanetix is a third-party quote provider and relies on insurance companies to provide rate and algorithm updates (which is quite frequent). I know first hand that this can get messy for one company with multiple lines, let alone 30+. It makes sense that Kanetix will not always be 100% accurate, but it should at least give you a good relative idea of which companies you should be focusing your attention on (for auto insurance).

for my car they were spot on....and i mostly use kanetix to price differentiate when shopping for a new car....i'd price quote my current car and compare that to what i'm paying now, i would then leave everything the same and just keep changing cars to see whether the new car would be more or less than what i'm paying now.

Thought I'd give it a try and see what this thing has to say about my bike insurance...

Yeah... not accurate at all... I'm paying 4000$ less than that for full coverage with fire and theft.

Seriously, I know an ss is not a cheap bike to insure, but with over 11 years riding experience and at 30 years of age it tells me I'd be paying over $6000 for basic on a 600cc bike. However some people have said it quotes pretty close to what they are paying. So why does it seem to be accurate for some and WAY off the charts for others?
