yep, thats a hot dog. I worked in the meat processing industry for years.

Many variations of emulsified meats or "proteins" put in into the selected shape and cook. In the end it is how all processed meats are made, not exactly the best thing for many people, but it has its place in the market based on convenience, price point, and taste.
