Hong Kong Helmets and Fake Helmets in General

So I'm in Hong Kong right now and I wanted to look for helmets with the sliding sunshades behind the visor. So I found some shops that sell them and I was planning on buying them but decided to take some time to think about it.

Some of them are about $650 HKD which is roughtly $85 CAD... really cheap for helmets. Now I don't know whether they're cheap because it's Hong Kong or if it's because they're fake/novelty helmets. Some of them do have the DOT sticker on the back of the helmet but I thought to myself, can't they just make them and stick it on? Also some have the logo on them like MRC. Other helmets can go for $2000 HKD = roughly $260 CAD

So what I'm basically asking is for opinions on these helmets. How to tell fake ones from real certified ones. Where to get the real ones in Hong Kong if these aren't to standard, and any other information on helmets in general.

Thanks for your help!

How does that help? They can forge the tag too.

I don't think you can tell save for cutting the helmet open, or perhaps weighing it against the orig. specs (if its a lot lighter or heavier than something's amiss, either using the wrong foam/materials or cutting back on them).

I would say look at the quality of the helmet and compare it to something you have before. Look for seals & logo.

Why not just buy the HJC over here. They got those built in and DOT. Are you planning to use the helmet there or bring a helmet back to use?

I'm planning to bring it back to use. I want to get it in HK because it's mad cheap! lol that's the main reason.
