That's the cheapest bike from big makes, beats the others entry bike by more than $1400. Still think the sweet spot is around $3000, let's see what happens.

Maybe the sweet spot WAS $3k 10 or so years ago. With the dollar where it is against other currencies.... nope. I looked it up and against the yen it's stronger.

Could be the additional costs of doing business in Canada contribute to the apparently elevated price. Taxes, regulation etc.

Regulations are just rubber stamped from the U.S. I'm thinking increased shipping and material costs are the killer.
 
Wife went to do her full M on her 125 Yamaha vino scooter , tester at MTO says nope , you can’t put that on a 400 series hiway . Won’t do 100kph . No point arguing with the guy . I go back the next day and show him a picture of the speedo at 119kph . He says sure downhill and btw your speeding . I say F you dimwit , book apt at a different MTO test site and she gets an M

I often take my TW200 down to Yonge/Queens Quay from Orangeville. I try to do it earlier in the morning on Saturdays. Most of the time I take Hwy 10, 410, 401, 427 and then QEW/Gardener. Never had much problem. Just ride the ride hand lane and keep my head on a swivel at all the on ramps. Down a slight grade, without a headwind, the bike will haul my fat arse at 115kmph, wide open. Going home is a different story though. All on a 197cc bike. Laying flat on the gas tank will almost always get me an extra 15kmph....lol 2 bikes ago, I had a Ural sidecar. Now, that bike was slow.

Rented one recently in Vietnam for a month. They are great little scoots. Pretty much bulletproof.

Bought one when I was travelling Vietnam. Funny to see the comparison where it is too small of a bike for here, there it is as big of a bike as you need.

Size matters in North America. Bigger is better.

Plus our highways are (I assume) much faster running than those in Vietnam (?).

I do not disagree at all. In Vietnam you are lucky to be able to cruise at 80 on the highway, speed limit is 80 but there is always traffic. Most people there use tiny scooters.

Just curious the dichotomy between the two countries.
