Honda Hybrid ?

Hmmm... setting up a planetary gearbox, ala Toyota Prius? Bet you could make a nice small CVT that way

Overcomplexification. Let's take a half-arse petrol engine and combine it with a half-arse EV (because a serious version of either one would add up to too much weight and bulk) and make something that's half-arsed at everything and more complicated than both.

Here's something to be said about going all the way to EV that isn't often mentioned. No more oil changes. No more timing belts/chains. No more valve clearance checks or adjustments.

The NC750 is so low stress that I suspect 99% of them could live their full service life without a single valve check yet alone touching the timing chain. 7000 rpm redline on a 750 is a miserable bike imo.

Multiple patents offer a hint of Honda’s approach to hybrids.

Perhaps it is more about he who holds the patent versus actually bringing a product into the light of day. Even if they do it will be for PR and never see real production..

I guys are very harsh sometimes...
They make some very dependable bikes. Hell, the 750 engine I hate so much may work well for someone that values fuel economy above all else. I test rode one and couldn't wait to get off. Absolutely awful experience. All the shifting of a 250 with the weight and insurance of a 750. For me, a bike less than 1000cc needs to rev to at least 10,000 rpm.

Would sound and smell better if you were describing a 2 stroke.

Honda has always described themselves as an engineering company. I don't doubt that they will make it just because they can. Whether or not they put it into production I don't know, but whatever innovation they create is good for everybody in my opinion.

It's a Volt. They have patented a bike version of the Volt drivetrain.

I rode the NC750XA and found it boring, but def has a market out there. The DCT was great in traffic.
