Home Owner's Insurance

Hey guys

Just wondering if you would be able to provide me some recommendations on home owner's insurance providers that have good rates/coverage. I'll be living downtown Toronto (Leslieville) as an FYI

Thanks in advance all!

I'm with royal bank, had an issue and the claims adjustor wouldn't return any of my calls for over a week. I never ended up speaking with him he left a message on my phone telling me that my claim was denied. Also had to fight with them seriously when a car was written off. I don't know if jevco does home insurance but comparatively speaking they were easier to deal with.

what i'm saying is deal with some one you can talk to a representative face to face...

We use TD Meloche Monex. They offer a set of Alumni discounts depending on the school you graduated from. I shopped around with most of the majors and their rates/coverage seems good. Disclaimer: We have never made a claim against this inusrance, so I am not sure about their fulfillment side of things.

I use State Farm for all my insurance and they've always been great. No issues with claims or getting in touch with adjusters, they go out of their way to help.

Same here had a flood that caused $30,000 damage from my fish tank breaking. No questions other then what happened state farm had a company in here a day later and fixed everything to brand new. I have a great agent and she answers my call within the day or texts me if she is not in the office.

I'm also with TD. They are reasonable. Unfortunately I have had 2 claims in the past 10 years. They initially tried to settle with less but negotiated to a more fair settlement. Hopefully, I don't have any more!

Smash your own fishtank and get new hardwood in the whole house? Sounds like a deal ;)

I insure everything with Statefarm. Never had an issue getting in touch with them, always glad to answer my questions and when I've made a claim there were no hassels.

LOL and the whole basement re carpeted as well and paint the living room! Good part is the gold fish lived i've had him for 7 years didn't want it that way for him to go.

+1 on SF. My patents have their house under them and we have 4 cars and a bike insured as well. We have had not at fault claims against us like my car being stolen my sis getting rear ended and my mom was held up and got her car damaged at the process. Never a hassle and they took care of everything. I would assume their home claims are also very good compared to the auto.

They can live that long? Holy crap, I have two fish from our wedding more than a year ago in a 5 gallon tank. I thought they would only last a few months, but they are still fine.

I have insurance with TD MM. Never had a claim but they have the cheapest auto rates by far for me. With the multi-line discount, home insurance is almost free.

TD Insurance for us!

My agent (Federated Ins), who we have been using for a long, long time, who insures our business and all its vehicles and more, when I inquired about insuring my new house told me to go to TD insurance. They are the talk of the home insurance industry apparently. He told me to give them a call and get a quote. He said nobody could touch their rates.

He was right.

Whao thanks for all the informative tips! Thumbs up to all of you!

My boss is with statefarm and had a $100k claim due to flooding. Everything went off without a hitch. In any case I'll check out statefarm and td for sure based on coworkers and the forum feedbacks.

Again all your help is very much appreciated :)
