Anyone got a hitch from hitch city or uhaul?

Looking at getting it from one of these two places but never been there and wondering if one is better than the other, and if they'll do a good job or hack up my suv.

Both hitches are class 3 with 3500 limit and look almost identical.

Hitch city wants 295 + 90 for wiring

Uhaul wants 280 everything in

I would go with U-haul for the price alone. I've installed plenty of hitches and depending on what SUV you have it could be as easy as just putting 4 or 6 bolts through the frame as some vehicles already have the holes present from factory for the hitch. Wiring is not that difficult either. Anywhere that has done a few hitches should be able to manage it. I have installed hitches in as little as 20 minutes and wiring in another 30 minutes and up.

I have also sent out a dozen or so vehicles to Hitch City on King Rd and I have had one come back with messy wiring. Easily fixed.

Fact or fiction? Heard somewhere that adding a trailer wiring harness can screw up an expensive module on some cars. My GM has a factory harness.

IT CAN BUT WONT. MOST OF THE TIME ita has to do with led lighting and causing issues. you may need to buy a good wiring kit not just splice it it.

I had a U haul hitch on my Jetta. It was good, and was cheaper than a Reese or Hidden Hitch.

For newer vehicles you can get kits that are just plug and play. No splicing is needed and it is as easy as unplugging your existing taillight wiring and plugging a harness in between the lights. Foolproof.

Check ebay. I can get a hitch for my car, including shipping, for cheaper than anywhere else. Hitches are easy to install -- at least they were for every car I've installed them on.

When I got my hitch installed, the uhaul and hitch city offerings were the same, down to the part numbers. I went with hitch city in scarborough after I considering some history with uhaul maintenance and safety records.

Their wiring wasn't horrible but I ended up re-doing some of it and upgrading to a light controller with independent power and breakers after I actually tried to use it a few times and ran into other peoples messes. On my next vehicle I'll just do it myself from the start.
