Hey everyone I'm Sheldon,

I live in Caledon and i just got my M1 about 2 weeks ago, I've always wanted to ride and i can't wait to start and learn, Once more experienced i would love to own a ducati Monster. :)

and the questions..

1. I intend to take the M1 exit course at humber in july, is there anything i need to know about this, i've read some good and bad reviews on here but is there any crucial information or good advice anyone has?

2. I'm thinking about going to buffalo or somewhere in the US to buy my bike gear helmet, jacket etc. does anyone know of any great places in america that i should go to a one stop shop or anything like that, or is it better that i buy my equipment in Toronto?

3. what are some good bike shops in or around toronto, places with everything i need?

4. I've been looking at Draggin jeans with the kevlar material, i've heard they're really worth it but they are really expensive 250+ are there some other companies that make the same jeans just as good?

5. As I said I eventually want a ducati monster...there baby bike is 696..im guessing just about everyone here will say thats way to powerful to learn on...What im afraid of tho is buying a smaller bike like a ninja250 or cbr125 or something and then getting stuck with-it not being able to sell it, any advice?

thats about it for now thanks for all the help in advance!

Welcome Sheldon!

This is a good thread to read regarding the process from licensing to buying a bike

This is a good thread about first bikes:

As for the resell value of a 250R... 250Rs are probably the bike that retain its value the best. It's a very popular and sought after beginner bike, you'll most likely sell the bike for only a few hundred less than when you bought it.

Ducati Monster 696 is a sick bike! I'd like to get one of those when I'm done with my Ninja as well.
Just some food for thought, as a beginner, would you rather learn on a beater bike or get a luxury bike and feel terrible if/when you drop it?

hey yeah i completely agree with buying a cheaper used bike in case anything happens because of my inexperience, something good to learn on, i've seen both those links thanks for the info though!

Welcome!!

Welcome! Good luck with your choices, and the Monster is one fine bike ...... Not that I am being biased or anything ..... :p

Good to start on something used like others stated.

Welcome aboard. Before going south of the border, you should check out Pannon in Mississauga (at least for a lid and gloves) and Royal Distributing in Barrie/Whitby?/Guelph (for the rest of the gear).

Welcome aboard!
