 Hey guys, finally found my first bike, a 2009 ninja 250 in great condition for $3700, $8000km with an aftermarket exhaust. Will be closing the deal tomorrow =).

Gonna go shopping tomorrow and I was wondering if you guys would share with me what you guys bought for your gears and accessories! brand and model number or name. I hate shopping with so many choices so it would be to narrow my search down!

my budget is approximately $100-200 max per item, and im looking to get the following,

Helmet ( thinking maybe modular, with a built in shaded visor that you can slide down, saw it on someguy at the MSF course)

Gloves (already have 1- icon stealth, looking for another as my hand sweats a lot, sexy i know =P )
Boots
Jacket

Backpack ( has to be able to carry a lot of ****, as i usually carry 2 sets of clothes with me everywhere, gym clothes and work clothes, plus my toiletries, supplements and extra shoes (cuz i do construction and renovation), thinking of the icon squad 2 for its high visibility but it doesnt look like it would be able to carry my load.

planning on shopping at gpbikes unless there is someplace better you guys can recommend

thanks
Mike

Gp is your best bet as Royal is right next to it as well. You can check out gear at both stores and try on stuff at both in your price range:)

Also if you plan having that much stuff with you all the time you might wanna get a tail bag or side bags as holding that much stuff in a nap sac would be uncomfortable and make you really hot and tired fast.

Also, with helmets you really need to try on a whole bunch and see what fits you right with out any pressure spots. Giving you a whole bunch of brands will not help as they all fit different for everyone. GP has some really good staff and will help you in figuring out what brand or style will suit you and how to figure out the right size for you.

if you don't want to go that far, you can go check out Cycle World at Sheppard & McCowan. you have to try on the gears to find the one that fit you

Welcome,

I agree with Rafiki911, avoid a backpack if possible, I wear a sling pack for quick commutes but it only has my netbook and wallet/keys/cell/smokes. Anything more and its a pain. Also if you are headed to GP in whitby, check out Royal Distributing, their website is bloody terrible, but the staff and gear are good. For everything else, try it on and move around a bit in it. Helmet should fit snug and if this is your first time buying one, ask the staff for help getting it fitted properly.

Cheers and safe riding

Not sure if this is too late as you did state you're shopping today, but...

Your budget is very tight. $100 - $200 for a jacket or boots or helmet is leaving you in the cheaper range.

There are some okay helmets you can get cheap. Jackets and boots you will notice the compromises in quality in buying cheaper.

My rule of thumb on buying stuff is don't buy the cheapest but also don't buy too expensive until you know what you're looking for.

I'd suggest Joe Rocket boots and jacket may be alright. I have a Joe Rocket Ballistic jacket which is pretty good. It's done me well for several years. I also have Joe Rocket Meteor boots that I haven't worn for a while but they're okay as well.

GPBikes is a good shop with competitive prices. Royal is a good comparator if you know the quality of the stuff you're looking at. They do sell some stuff that is cheaper than I would consider though.

Good luck.

Congrats, I have an 09 Ninja also, my girlfriend bought me my jacket i think she paid somewhere between $200 and $300 hundred for it at Royal. I was just there the other day and they have some decent helmets, the kind with the drop down visor made by HJC is about $160. Check upstairs at GP Bikes, they have a clearance section.

I would wait until I could purchase something higher quality. You might be able to sell the jacket to help offset the cost of a new one, but nobody wants used boots. Save up for a great pair. Helmets will prob have to be re-purchased after 5 years or when you get into a spill anyways.

What size are you? I have a red/black icon textile jacket (S) I kind of want to sell to get a tighter style of jacket. Its in pristine condition.

Try Royal, u r a bit too late, sale ended july 31. i picked up a AGV helmet for $300 (MSRP $600) and 2nd item half off so a full shift leatehr jacket for $115 (MSRP $449, on sale for $230, got it for $115) I found them to be the cheapest even for accesories as compared to Snow city. Cycle world and GP. They are clearig out AGV helmnets so u might still be able to pick up one for about $100 there were quite a few around $130 - $150

since youre out east, kapscomoto, competition cycle, etc...
