Help with finding a reasonable insurance quote?

Hi guys,
I am reaching out for some help with insurance.

I have been riding a ninja 250r for the past two years racking up ~18k in experience.
Its getting old and although its still fun to ride I feel like Im ready for a bit more power.

Only issue is, insurance ...

Some background info:
-23
-full GM license
-1 ticket on record (rolling stop sign in cage not bike)
-no claims no nothing, clean record other than the ticket

I have been looking at a daytona 675 (been after this bike for 3 years now) or possibly the newer ninja 636.
Looking at a newer bike that will be a keeper (planning to hold onto it for a long time)

Called up state farm AND Td (currently with TD) and no matter what 600 class SS i pick regardless of age (new or 5-10 years old) my quotes are ~6.5-7.5k.
Can't justify paying almost the same price as the bike for insurance...

Anyone have any other options/suggestions? I know Ive already tried the main options for my age (TD and SF) but is there anything else I should try before giving up.

Hypothetically if my dad gets his M1 would he be able to insure my bike? we both reside at different addresses but hes never had motorcycle insurance before. I know this isnt exactly the best way about going at it but I would rather try this option than to ride dirty which is out of the picture for me.

any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated.

Went to the bike show, sat on the bikes Ive wanted to sit on, fell in love with them, ... and then my insurance quotes crushed my heart

thanks!

Look at a 98 or 99 gsxr 750. Go with intact and you should pay about 800 a year. Once. You hit 27 then buy the bike u want.

The 98 gsxr or newer is fuel injected in the 750, can out ride you, is still fast.

C'mon, really?

Ill have to take a look into that and try contacting intact to see if they would even insure me, thanks for the suggestion.

yes really? Im just looking at options at the moment.
Im personally not comfortable at paying 7grand for insurance which I will only be riding on weekends for a few months, but if you are then hey more power to you.

I guess trying to ride with insurance opposed to no insurance is looked down upon here..

Op, I love triumphs

Here's a tip to save you

Price out insurance for a street triple, same engine but better cruiser and city bike, just as fast, it's a 675 cc, they want 1100 from me to ride it and I am not far off from you.

KLR posted his comment as what your "suggesting" to do is illegal ti is fraud and if caught never mind 7,000 for insurance you won't get insurance period.

Also if you crash etc then the insurer can simply say you committed fraud we are not paying out the claim.
Then you have a crashed bike (NOT gtetting fixed), AND potentially $100,000's in claims from other parties against YOU and YOUR DAD. Plus god help you if your seriously injured.

I realize you "fell in love" with the bikes you want but they are simply, (due to insurance costs), not for you at this time. Get something others have suggested and ride until the insurance is a better option.

Honestly you should just be happy that you could afford to ride at 21, I had to wait until I was 25 to ride a 250. Supersports really arn't feasible until you turn 25 and meet SF's criteria.

there is no such thing as reasonable motorcycle insurance in this province. period. if you want a bigger bike with cheap insurance move to Australia

Call a different Statefarm agent. I had a f4i (600 SS) at 22 with a worse record than you and paid $3500 for the year. Buddy was 21 and had the roughly the same quote for a gsxr.

But you realize that both the 636 and 675 are in a different insurance category than the 600s for Statefarm? Get a quote for something with 599cc.

paying just over $2000/yr with state farm for my D675. Hoping to transfer my car over to bring that price down. I hate Ontario prices.

Nope not at all ! Might have to venture away from a SS for the time being I guess until im 25

Or alberta is a more feasible option than down under lol but I currently like living in ontario.. minus insurance costs

Ill give it a shot, i was under the impression they all went to the same data base for their quotes. And yeah I believe they are priced up to the 750's..it was the extra cc's that caught my eye, but at the moment Im leaning towards a street triple .. should be much less

I take it your over 25?

That one ticket must make a huge difference. I`m 22 and pay $3500 for a 2011 600rr. If you wanna commit insurance fraud..good luck with that.

Riding with fraudulently-obtained insurance is almost as bad as riding without insurance at all. You can't list your father as the principal operator because he isn't the principal operator. If the bike is too expensive to insure, look at a different bike. Your rate on the SS bikes will come down with time -- in the meantime, get something a little more affordable to insure. When I was at your stage, I rode a Honda VFR sport touring bike and loved it. In fact, I loved it so much that I would consider getting one again . . . it's a well-rounded bike.

Ill give it a shot, i was under the impression they all went to the same data base for their quotes.

You are correct -- two different State Farm agents quoting you for the same risk and same coverage will give you the EXACT same premium. The rate manual is created by headquarters and approved by the regulator before being used by the agents. The agents are legally not allowed to deviate from the rate manual.

SF is your only option because they charge by engine size rather than class of bike. It's still going to be expensive because you're too young. Look into non-SS bikes and cheaper companies instead. My company doesn't charge a surcharge for SS bikes but that's because they just flat out refuse to insure them, lol. Allstate supposedly considers the Hyabusa to be a sport tourer so that might be cheaper, heh.

Maybe the Street Triple isn't classed as an SS?

And, no, you shouldn't commit insurance fraud.
