HELP?! I want to go to ISLE OF MAN -- need advice ?

Also cheaper flights to the UK and then from the North West coast (might be Fleetwood, or they may go from Liverpool now too...it was a while ago since I last went) by ferry.

I came here hoping for some funny replies. The smartasses must not be awake yet :(

Its easier to fly into Dublin or Belfast. Its only a short bus ride to the boat. If you fly into London you have to take the train to Liverpool, Heysham or Holyhead.

If you don't have a bike its easier to stay in Douglas. Its easy to walk to the Start and Finish, Governors or Signpost, or head south to Quarter Bridge (great pub right on the corner for refreshments) or Braddan. Or you could take the tram up to Snaefell and wander down to the Bungalow or Brandywell

Its great if you can get a B&B right along the Queens or Central Prom in Douglas. Fantastic atmosphere, Bushy's Beer Tent and The Purple Helmets - doesn't get much better than that. We normally stay at the Clifton on Queens Prom

You may want to look into Boats and Accommodation as it books up really fast.

The ferry from Dublin is booked full a year in advance.

PM "Jayv" Or recidivist .. i believe they went last year.

I know i get invited over each year, but havent gone yet. The neighbours are from there and there house is right along side the road.

One thing I forgot to mention is that there a number of private yachts and fishing boats that sail out of Portaferry and Ardglass in Northern Ireland. This is a really good alternative if you're not traveling with a bike. I've done it a few times and it worked out to around $30CDN each way. Its a good option if you don't have a bike.

I'm fortunate as my Brother in law is a Professor at Queens in Kingston and has had an extended exchange position at Queens in Belfast. I've been able to borrow his R1200GS for the last few years :)
