Hi everyone,
I am new here and also new to riding. I just did my M1 exit test and am looking forward to riding ASAP. I still am looking for a cheap-ish 250 Ninja or CBR but, well, they seem kinda rare these days!
I look forward to spending time with this community and getting out on some epic rides.

If you want a cheap 250 you need to go pregen (anything from '07 or older)
Seems everyone wants to sell their newgen ninjas for near MSRP with scratchines and 10k+km on them.

Maybe also look for a ZZR? There are a few on kijiji for realtively cheap. It's the Ninja 250s twin, and the zzr600s little brother.

Here are a few zzr250 ads.

There are a few minor difference between the zzr250 and ninja (ex)250(r).
Pregen ninja ('07 and before) have 16 inch rims (the 08+ have 17). The zzr has 17 inch rims all years.
the ZZRs make slightly more horsepower (i doubt it'd be that noticable; especially for a new rider.) The ninja weights slightly more.

But other than that, both are pratically the exact same.

welcome!

Well, after looking at a couple ninjas, including a nearly brand new 600 for an awesome price, I decided to go a different direction and am just finalizing a deal for an '84 650 Nighthawk. It'll be much better for insurance, and a good first bike IMO...plus it won't break any banks at a price south of 1k :)
I look forward to (hopefully) getting out for a ride as soon as this weekend! Woo hoo!
Thanks for the welcome, and the helpful links...

You will most likely have a lot of fun doing small repair jobs on it and cleaning it up over the winter for sure, get it in awesome condition for next season. You can take it out now for the rest of the season and find out what kinks you have to work on.

Welcome, hope you find a bike soon...I predict a long Indian summer.
