Wanted to say hello. I just got my M1 this morning and signed up for a course (Learning Curves) that happens in a couple of weeks. Looking to get a used Kawasaki Ninja 250 shortly after that. I'm a short guy (5'4") and have swung a leg over a friends FZ6R, pretty heavy and got one toe on the ground, so I think I'll start with something a bit smaller. My friend has the same inseam as I do but he has 6 years of experience, LOL.

Looking for deals on gear and a bike if anyone has any tips!

Welcome to the forum and to the pastime of motorcycling.
I have lived in East York, but now I live in Far South York, I suppose.

If you want reasonably warm clothing at a bargain price, consider GoodWill, especially their bargain outlet at 350 Progress Avenue. The place is a bit of a zoo, but you have a good chance of getting some insulated pants, which are not high-demand items in September & October, for a low price.

Enjoy your rides!

I took the course at Learning Curves in Sarnia. I had never been on a bike before that weekend. The instructors were awesome. You are going to learn so much! Good luck.

It's generally harder to find stuff in your size, but I scour Kijiji regularly for deals on gear (jackets mainly).

I'd check out the bike show coming up in January for gear if you can wait until then.

I wouldn't invest a lot in your first gear; you will find out lots about what gear you REALLY need, comfort, etc. after you've gotten comfortable on your bike and your style of riding.

Welcome!

Welcome and grats on your first bike! I started on a Ninja 250 as well, loved it. The only thing for me was that the tires size vs strong wind on highways. Felt like I was going to be blown over sometimes lol. I know that GSXRs tend to be a bit lower, should try out one of those some time.

As for gear, I personally went to http://www.cycleworldsuperstore.com/ (not far from you i think). I was happy with their selection and price. I think size is important so I wouldn't buy second hand. Keep in mind that the items you buy should last a long time, although my boots are almost done from occasionally dragging them.
