Hey from London guys and girls,

Soon to be a new rider here. I have a course at Fanshawe College starting Apr 4 and Ending on the 7th. Will most likely be getting a bike shortly after.
What do you guys suggest; i want to get a bike right away after the course or wait until may 13th (that's when I'll get my M2)?

Insurance question: I m sure you guys get a lot of these!
How are the bikes classified for insurances? I always thought it was by class then by CC's but after calling my insurance company today it seemed like they just did everything by CC's, any suggestions?

Also, Is there a manual on hand gestures for newbs? Don't want to disrespect anyone riding and waves and I don't do a proper response or something.

Being my first bike i have no preference as far as the style of bike goes, any one have any suggestions up to 250cc don't want to get killed on insurance.

welcome, shop around for ins every company is different in calculating their rates, some go by cc's and some model
as far as the hand gestures there's the obvious wave.... and tap on the top of helmet-police ahead...when group riding kick foot out-signals debris on road ahead
you are probably best off with a ninja 250 if sport bikes are your thing

best of luck

Definitely leaning heavily towards a 250. look at a 2001 ninja 250 the other day and going to try to lower the price (at 3200 tax inc seems a bit steep, what do you think?)
so far i got quoted 1670 for the ninja 250 with monnex, gonna call around on monday and test the waters a bit.

$3200 for a 2001 Ninja 250r is robbery! The newer generation 2008 - 2012 go for that much. As mentioned, buying a bike at this time of year is costly. Good luck with your search.

Welcome, I'm from London too. I did the Fanshawe course late last year and it was great. They had CBR125Rs and some standard-type bikes (I think 150cc Hondas?).

Insurance depends on a lot of factors, but if you've had your G for 5+ years try calling up State Farm.

Good to know the course was a great choice!
At 3200 figured as much, I have no issues going private or travelling to the GTA except that I don't know much about what to look for when buying a bike.
Really starting to get excited, hopefully I can be riding in 2 weeks!
