Watched all three episodes last weekend, was pretty cool **** - would hate to have lived in that time/era where you can get shot for saying the smallest thing or even just being around.

I watched this based on this thread, and it was a pretty good mini-series.
After watching I read their history online and the miniseries seems pretty true to reality.

One thing I can't help but thinking though... is how effing retarded people are to act like this. A kills B, B kills A, A kills B, B kills A... and on and on for 30 years -- in the end something like 13 murders and even more lives ruined (jail and otherwise) over one death! In the end, if the McCoys had sat down and let justice (or lack thereof) take it's course for Asa McCoy, then Randolph wouldn't have lost his entire family and suffered through 30 years of extended war...

I bet some of it is due to religion/christianity -- if some of these folk didn't believe in an afterlife, I bet they'd be more careful with the life they've got.
