My cousin's new Yamaha R6 was stolen out of a basement in Toronto, there was video of the van and 2 dudes, calls the cops and they didn't even show up to take a report, told him to file a police report at the station, they also refused to see the video from CCTV cameras, told him to send it to his insurance company. It was a $9,000 bike.

But corporations have more power and influence than you with cops, look at this link;

I think this had happened so many times (2-3 guys, a van and a basement parking lot) that police simply dont give a flying F about it. For them its a matter of $$ and you having to go through insurance.
Happened to a friend of mine where he lost a gorgeous bike to those a**holes. Police did not want to do anything with it.
If i remember correctly, there was an article saying basically how this whole picking up bikes from parking lots does not fall under the "breaking and entering" rules and police do not go after these gangs. Hence those guys are so confident in doing it with ease because they know nobody is coming after them ???

Either way it sucks *** to loose a beloved bike like that. Its horrible and i hope those fockers burn in the worst parts of hell for such a crime, its RIDICULOUS !

The cops do go after the theft rings. Just ask Timmay. :)

Call your MP and tell them the police that you pay for had no interest in investigating the theft of your bike. Your MP or MPP is their boss. It's like asking to speak to the manager. The MPP will have to follow up by talking with the Chief of Police for that division.

Cops are a for profit business. No money can be made investigating crimes when they can make money handing out tickets.

Not a bike, but had two cars stolen, it's just paper work for them, they aint gonna go looking for ****.
If it turns up it turns up, if not, just another stolen item.

They didn't say they wouldn't investigate it, they said they weren't going to show up and file the report in person and told him to go to the station and file it there. This is fairly standard practice now for a lot of things where urgent police attention really isn't needed. Reality is there's not much for them to see or do anyways aside from fill in a form.

And the officers not wanting to see the video themselves doesn't mean that the officer who files the report at the station won't take a copy of it. I've been in that situation before and the officer who's desk the report I filed landed on contacted me and had me send him the surveillance footage since I'd mentioned when I filed the report I had some.

They should give them the gayest mailmen uniforms possible...like shorts you see mail carriers wearing in the summer...and a badge that says "my name is......" and suspenders. Ever since they dressed them up in tactical gear, like soldiers, they behave like soldiers...which they are definitely not. They need humility. And a pad and a pencil....you know, police work?

They have forgotten what the job is. They're paid by YOU to serve and protect YOU!

Watch "Big Nick South Florida" treat them like mail carriers. It's both funny as F and eyeopening to see them taken down several notches from a black man with a cell phone that sounds like Samuel Jackson.

My bike got stolen 2 days ago! ... got an on the phone report.. hope they find out who stole it ! :(

Would adding a tracker help the cause ??
the good teams will start to break down the wiring on your bike in the van and look for such things, but the reality is if you want to keep what you have make it as hard as possible to steal to dissuade potential thieves.

i know someone whose had 3 1k super sports stolen in the last 10 years and he had permission from his condo board to install a floor anchor for those big ass expensive chains. the guys just show up at 2am and take their time with cutting tools.

if they really want your **** they will come prepared and will eventually get it.

I'm with you. A jammer costs almost nothing. Even if you can locate the bike, police often wont respond. They wont risk their lives for property.

Police don’t give a damn about property. I had a condo stolen from me (title fraud) the police said I’d be better to take civil action. Unless the thief showed a pattern the Peel police had zero interest.

I got my money back however the crook suffered no other consequence, just an “oh well, list this one”. He probably did it to others.

I know , buddy of mine had his 1000rr stolen from his house garage. 4 cars parked on the driveway and security cameras.
There is no stopping to these dikfuks. I have heard too many stories and even seen first hand incidents regarding stealing motorcycles, and absolutely nothing being done other than just "call your insurance company". I'm sure police laughs a little when they hear a bike being stolen

Happens to car owners too. Its like them thieves know nobody is coming after them

If you want the cops to show up, tell the cops you know where your bike is and you are going to get it. There will be a rapid response. You will be arrested, the criminals and your bike will still be where they were. Having a culture of policing where they wont enforce the laws and you sure as hell cant either is stupid.
