Harry's Lap Timer Question

Did anyone find the speedo on Harry's Lap Timer is a little bit off? I know the GPS only pulls data every second, so the speed cannot be 100% accurate. It says my top speed is 150km/hr, but I am pretty sure when I am on 3rd gear 16000rpm my speed will be faster than that. Could anyone verify their top speed on a 600cc before turn 2 please? Thanks ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Here are the different output formats of the datalogger, you can import the file in google earth and it will show you all the cornering speeds and stuff, its pretty cool LapTimer-4.hlptrl: LapTimer database in XML format LapTimer-4.kml: Google Earth KML file LapTimerGPSRecDB.csv: recorded GPS fixes as universal CSV format LapTimerGPSRecDB4Dashboard.csv: recorded GPS fixes prepared for TrackVision and DashWare data logger input

cool, so Harry's app is probably correct then. for your app can you export your lap's data into Google earth file? I just exported mine into google earth and it shows all my corner speeds and stuff.
3rd gear down the back straight? FWIW, according to Trackmaster for Android, I was running ~ 200kph max in 4th gear down the back straight on my R1 @ TMP (09/18/2011)... and 225kph down the front. http://trackmaster.trackaroo.com/welcome

here is mine....I am still new, still learning

Hang on...I just paid $250 for an XT minilap and beacon, and all I really needed was a $9 app for my iphone???

I would not say that...cause the app uses your cellular GPS data, which can only pull max once per second (although you can attach some external gps source to it to make it more accurate, I haven't tried that yet) , which means your lap time could be off by 1 second (although I am sure the developer uses different approximation methods to make it as accurate as possible) the app is by no means perfect, there are some bugs in it for sure. All my lateral and lineral G forces are negative, that is not right. and I got the pro version, which is 16.99 + tax which is almost 20 bucks :)

I run Trackmaster for Android, and use a QStarz BT818XT bluetooth GPS receiver to boost the sampling rate to 5hz. The QStarz will do 10hz, but Trackmaster currently only samples at 5hz. Hopefully they'll bump it up soon, they seem to be doing frequent updates.

You bet. A little different than yours but same idea.

I had both my XT Lap Timer and Trackmaster running for a session or two and the times seem quite close, within a half second or so.

How/where did you mount your phone?

FYI, I'm using a $150 LG Optimus One and mounted the phone to the tail using velcro and zip ties. Personally I don't think I'd risk using a more expensive phone.

I wrap my IPhone in socks and put in under my rear seat lol

HTC Incredible S mounted in an Otterbox, mounted in a custom machined aluminum enclosure that clamps to the fairing stay.( Yes, my bike's old... )
