I've been enjoying somewhat more spirited riding lately (on private roads, of course , but also met with people not comfortable with such pace. Also I have the feeling that even the die-hard race junkies and stunt masters have days, when they just want to go easy, which theoretically is also safer, no matter how you look at it.
So fellow riders in/around Hamilton, if you find the idea good, use this thread to post upcoming rides. I personally find it much easier to be subscribed to a thread and get notifications for new posts, rather than browse in hope to find a ride. Getting a notification is also somehow 'inviting' to go out, even if you haven't planned it.
To make it easier, I list below some rules that should govern the rides organized through here, and feel free to suggest changes:
+ Stunting is not allowed throughout the ride. Of course, an involuntary power or shift wheelie can happen, but the rider should not make any effort to sustain it.
+ No speeding in residential areas!!
+ The highways, backroads and city streets with no driveways and live people around can enjoy a pace boost, but never more than 20 over.
+ If a rider cannot maintain their speed in the corners, they should just catch up in the straights.
+ The group should maintain a staggered formation, but in corners the riders can (and should!) use the whole width of the lane to choose their line. So make sure you leave enough space between each other in the corners.
+ No running red lights, blowing stop signs, breaking the traffic rules.
+ Passing cars could be an exception, but only if the group agreed to that before the ride starts, and the leader should stick to that agreement no matter what. It is best if this is announced in the thread before the meet, of course.
Ride safe, looking forward to join your rides soon
