RIM is dead, they are only afloat because of corporations that are tied into them for email and security features of RIM.

RIM still maintains strong presence outside NA. They are also cash rich which is funding their R&D for the next platform.
RIM's brand awareness rivals Apple (everyone knows the blackberry name - a few years ago no one knew wtf an android was. If the new platform lives up to the hype, they will get back a good chunk of the market share.

If you want a company truly on the brink of BANRUPTCY...........its Nokia, with HTC not far behind.

-According to a report covered by Knowlton Thomas in Techvibes, 18 per cent of mobile users in Canada plan to make their next smartphone a BlackBerry and more Canadians plan to buy a Blackberry than an Android.

-RIM achieved the highest security rating of any cellphone company period.

-they are Number 1 in Africa and other developing markets.

Nobody says they will unseat Google. At best, they will become a corporate niche player, or get bought out down the road. But they will survive far longer than the other guys.

This is all a rumour started by ONE source at this point, every other article is simply quoting that first article. Not saying it's not going to happen, but until I hear it from a more reputable source (WSJ is normally in the know) I'll take it with a grain of salt
