Just a heads up, a small army of OPP has descended on Wasaga Beach to try and stop these kids. This is not a whether you agree with it or not or "get off my lawn" , or "what about the children" thread, just a heads up if you're thinking about heading up to Wasaga Beach, it's probably best that you don't. I just counted 22 cops and 2 checkpoints between River Road West and Elmvale on 92. You'll likely cook trying to get through the checkpoints on motorcycles. If you want to brave the storm, have at it. Might want to keep this in the main forum until the end of the weekend mods. You might save a rider a lot of grief.

Video is from last year. WB has had enough of these wankers. Roadblocks went up yesterday. Seizing vehicles for equipment violations and turning away any modified vehicles to keep them away from the core.

I agree with Maverick though, regardless of how you feel about H20i, I would go nowhere near wasaga this weekend.

Yes, last years footage. This year is yet to be determined. But they're making the local businesses pay dearly as well as locals who live there. The local Facebook Groups are popping off with complaints. April Wine is playing the main beach on Sunday to close out the summer. Getting in is going to be a major problem. Don't do it on a bike, you'll cook. Just saw a couple of guys on MT09's turned away. Secondary rural roads into Wasaga Beach (I know them all) say "Road Closed - Local Traffic Only" and are manned by what look like private security companies or MNR... the main arteries are pylons into a checkpoint manned by OPP. They are filming every car. I have never seen this amount of cops anywhere at one time.

Opp has teams dedicated to this. In addition to the checkpoints, they have at least five cars being dispatched as a squad to various parking lots. They are at Walmart now.

These aren't teams per se. The mobile command center is here every long weekend. That's a usual thing. This is all hands on deck...every available officer in a 500 km radius. They are handing out court orders now lol.

What is the point of that?

They have to hand out copies of the injunction... one of the conditions of laying charges under the court order... is the offender must be aware of it.
The injunction is a lot narrower than the news has been making it sound like it is.

Smith said he was “annoyed as hell” about what he saw as a lack of support at the checkpoints by the OPP."

OPP isn't stupid.. Those checkpoints are very questionable.
 
Well, I think that for WB and the OPP to go to this amount of trouble and cost must be the result of previous issues that PO'd residents and politicians.

WB is known to be a hooligan and party destination, maybe locals are fed up with the antics and have determined that the benefit (tourist $$ for local businesses) is just not worth the cost.

I've no issue with focused enforcement taking cars with loud exhausts, unsafe suspension modifications, suspended and uninsured drivers and improperly registered cars off the road. The more the better.

They know the checkpoints are illegal...even with an injunction they are not allowed to violate charter rights and probably don't want to spend the next year defending thenselves in court.
