I like the myth about the evil road spirits. =) I had one on my 250 and I have another one but haven't put it on this bike because it's a loaner from a friend. As for the ringing driving you nuts, how the hell do you hear it over your exhaust? Your bike must be quiet.

My gf gave me one shortly after I got my bike, its a very caring gesture. I leave mine on the key chain and the only time I hear it ring is when I am pulling it out to start the bike. Good luck op rode safe!
