Sister wants to shoot.

I started looking through the "but do you shoot" thread,
but it covers so many sub topics now.

Which ranges are there in the GTA, and what are your opinions of them?

Burlington is a good indoor range but huge waiting list, only 50yds, but got target returns.

Silverdale goes out to 200, but outdoor only, $100 extra per year, gotta drive more, more yahoos around and some stupid rules

Target sports/Lake Shore - not for rifles

Galt (Cambridge) and Guelph are great choices for all around clubs

Friday night is movie night. For example this past Friday was Pulp Fiction I kid you not.

Hey baggsy, some friends went to Urban Tactical in Brantford! They shot everything from Hand guns to 50 cal.

Southern Ontario's Best Shooting Experince. Open to the public with no license, membership or previous experience required.

I'm planning to take my boys (hopefuly over Christmas).

Dufferin North Peel Anglers and Hunters Association (Orangeville) Great rifle range, hand gun range, plus traps. You have to become a member. A true outdoor sportsman's club with fishing, hiking trails and camping on site. You have to put your name in for membership, then they interview you, but it's good once you're in.

Urban tactical is a nice place with a brand new range. Lots of room for new members and the capacity to shoot anything. However, you can only shoot 50' so not really ideal for rifles. I may join until
I can get into the HAHA club.

Wasn't a big fan of HAHA.. Their signup and renewal process was a joke.. I ended up going there once and never again. $400 single range trip lol

I'm noticing that with the application process. Referrals and all kinds of stuff. however it is 5 minutes from my house and offers everything I am looking for.

Might make it worth your while.. Here's how my experience went...

Showed up for orientation in June, paid my $400.. They said I should be up and running within a month. They don't prorate your membership, so for example if you join in November, your dues are up again in January, no discount on late joins. July came, so did August, so did September, nothing from the club and I tried e-mailing them. Then they gave me some BS about how they e-mailed me but I didn't get it (I never had problems receiving mail from anyone else and I check my junk folder regularly), then their computer system was down, blah blah blah, I think they got me up and running in October and I showed up at the club once.. After that, cold weather came, renewal notice sure didn't and remembering the process of joining, I didn't wanna go through the same ordeal trying to renew my membership, I just gave up..

Has anyone been to Target Sports Canada? How do they compare?

Expensive and restrictive - backstop not rated for rifle calibers, so you gotta buy their frangible ammo that's worth more than gold. Also lots of walkin yahoos to deal with. Good place for a casual shoot when bringing a bunch of people from the office, but I wouldn't join as a club member.

And we are upping the number of members this year, so getting in might even be easier and faster

Is that facility outdoor only?

Yes

the rifle/pistol range does have an enclosed and covered structure, but the targets them selves are in the open down range, no auto retrieval, but at least if it's raining you don't get wet while shooting, the structure is warmed by a heater, but it does get cold since the windows looking out to the targets need to be opened up, but during nice days it's just great.....
